And if we came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys? Don't you think it would be safer for you to believe in God? Because, if you don't believe in God and you're wrong, you'll roast in hell forever and ever. But, if you believe in God and you're wrong, you've lost nothing. Right? Anyways, why are you even here? This is a RELIGION section. Is it because misery loves company? How can you believe something came from nothing? Can an airplane fly through a junkyard and create a tornado?

Thanks, wolfechu. Where would I be without helpful, observant people like you? It's good to see true Christians like yourself looking out for their brothers and sisters to make sure they don't mess up these very convincing analogies.

Gary Morning, who says that something that creates something complex must be more complex than the thing it created. I can write a very simple program that will generate the highly complex Mandelbrot set.

LOL!

I like how you've included everything from the fallacy of proving a negative to Pascal's Wager .

Burden of proof doesn't lie upon us atheists, it lies upon the person who believes in the claim.

I like the tornado bit, too.

Athiest, can you PROVE God doesn't exist?
No more than you can PROVE that he does.

And if we came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?
If cellphones came from telephones, why are there still telephones?

Don't you think it would be safer for you to believe in God? Because, if you don't believe in God and you're wrong, you'll roast in hell forever and ever. But, if you believe in God and you're wrong, you've lost nothing. Right?
Wrong. A god who disregards the true righteousness of a person is a false god.

Anyways, why are you even here? This is a RELIGION section. Is it because misery loves company?
I don't know if I speak for everyone, but I come to here to see what kind of ridiculous questions and statements people like you make. I read them and I can't decide whether to laugh to cry.

How can you believe something came from nothing?
We're not the ones who believe something came from nothing. That would be you, creationist. We know better than that - matter and energy in the universe is converted, not created.

Can an airplane fly through a junkyard and create a tornado?
Maybe. Who cares.

I'm not even going into the "why are there still monkeys"... Read a book on evolution or do a search on Y/A. I'm tired of explaining this... I imagine so is everyone else... It comes up too often.

Why do Christians actually believe that merely not believing or knowing Jesus would somehow result in being damned to torment for all eternity ? That would basically make God as bad as Satan. There are Billions who have never even heard of Jesus in the world. They are damned for all eternity for merely being born ? How cruel and evil your God is, I can see why Lucifer would have risen against him...

You also for your main question cannot prove a negative. I could ask you to disprove that there are invisible pink flying elephants amongst us. You cannot prove otherwise. It is only common sense that there is not, since there is nothing to suggest that there is.

This is as you said a Religious section. To discuss Religious subjects. That does not mean you have to be pro on the discussion, con is also an option.

I have no idea what the airplane through a junkyard comment was about... You started babbling there.

1) No, and you can't prove that Zeus doesn't exist. So why don't you believe in Zeus? According to your "logic," you should believe in Zeus because you can't prove he doesn't exist.

2) We didn't come from monkeys. We share a common ancestor with monkeys. That is why monkeys and we both exist at the same time.

3) No. That is called Pascal's Wager and it's just about the dumbest reason for believing in God ever. After all, all it is is belief out of fear. Plus, if you truly do not BELIEVE that God exists, Pascal's Wager just requires you to PRETEND to believe in God. Either you really believe or you really do not, consequences be damned.

4) No. I have not been "there," wherever this "there" is that you're referring to. I do not have to go to a nonexistent place in order to believe that it does not exist.

Have YOU been to Heaven? You must, because if you think that we have to go to non-existence-of-heaven to believe in the non-existence of Heaven, then you must have gone to Heaven yourself, and that's why you believe, right?

5) This is the Religion and Spirituality section. Atheism can be very spiritual, and in any case, if you're not a chef that doesn't mean that you can't have an opinion about and discuss food.

6) Oh, the old Ultimate 747 Argument, except you totally got it all wrong. It goes, "If an hurricane blows through a junkyard, what are the odds of it assembling a working 747 out of all the spare parts lying around?"

Flawed "logic," because atheism does not necessitate a belief that "something came out of nothing." Just becase you are incapable of understanding physics and cosmology doesn't mean that everybody on the planet is incapable of understanding. Same goes for biology.

Now a question for you: If you think that the universe is so complex that it must have had a creator, then surely the creator must have been more complex than the universe. If that's the case, then what created the creator? You are, after all, positing that very complex things MUST have been created - that nothing complex can ever "just be."

No, you cannot prove a negative.

We did not evolve from monkeys, we merely share a common ancestor.

No, it is not safer for me to believe in God. I have been a believer and an Atheist and feel a lot better without religion to justify everything.

Just because I do not practice any religion does not mean I cannot answer religious questions. Indeed, have you seen all the questions directed at Atheists, including your own?

I believe something came from nothing just as you do. I just don't believe this something was formed by some non-descript being waving his hands.

What the hell? How is that relevant to anything.

Why are you forever trying to prove how stupid and ignorant you Holies are ?
You're asking about playing it safe by believing in your god . How is that safe ? Who says your god is the right one ? A billion people are playing it safe by worshiping Vishnu . Are you safe ? Today is Thursday ( Thor's day ) , do you worship the great god of lightning and thunder . If Thor is the big guy , and Jesus is a fake , you're in big trouble .
Yeah , I know , all you Holies are so sure of your beliefs - - - I'm right and everybody else is wrong . Yeah, maybe. Don't be so sure of yourself .

Yes if there was a God that had a message to spread He would have sent 200 prophets at the same time to all corners of the earth, speaking all languages, approaching all ethnic groups, revealing exactly the same message word by word. All humanity would have been in synch, shocked and awed by this UNIVERSAL POWER.
Instead God is supposedly to have approached different ethnic groups with different or opposing messages and would be criminally negligent for having promoted RELIGIOUS WARS. There is no fricking God man.

,No and i cant prove that aliens really dont exist either, does that mean you believe in aliens?according to your bible you have to do more than just believe to get to heaven,if hell does exist i will see most of the" believers" in hell right next to me,none of you follow the letter of the bible so to speak,if you think you can get there by just acknowledging god exist, according to the bible your wrong. you should really look at a science book sometime, the word evolve does more then suggest that something happened first, where does the "came from nothing" come from?

You are taking advantages from god who will not happy with you. If there is god who will not happy to see someone deal with him. The questions are argueing between different religious and different people. If you are bible believer, will not argue with anyone. As stated in creator chapter; Adam and Eve had eaten the clarified sin and holly tree's fruit then drove out of Eden.
It is because the clarify sin and holly is the sin of origin. After the arguement, will fighting for right and wrong, then kill. So it is the original sin we are. Shall we step back to the sin again?
