I walk into a cave, where I meet another man, who claims to be an angel, claims to be sent by yet another man named God. This man no. 2 (the angel) tells me some stories, claiming those to be the ultimate truth and coming from man no. 3 (God) and ask me to go out and make everybody else on this earth (and Mars and Jupiter etc.) the follower of the man no. 3. In return I am promised to become the sole arbitrator between the man no. 3 and all those followers, which I will be making any which way I can. Does this make me a prophet ?

EDIT:

Paula : you mean to say that I made up the story like the guys before me did ?
Ahmad : Let me know what 'miracle' can convince you and I will 'arrange'.
Snowglob : Don't you see, I do not care about truth or God etc., I just want to be a prophet. I have seen how powerful prophets are. I wanted to become CEO of a company but it needs 3 years of MBA. Becoming a prophet looks easier to me.

No, and I think you made up that whole story.

Only if there is evidence from the rest of your life that something DID happen to you and that the information you are sharing is something extraordinarily special. The world will wait and see. In Acts 5:35 of the New Testament, the religious leaders were complaining about Jesus and the buzz he was causing, and thought something drastic should be done about it. One of them, the teacher Gamaliel, advised them to do nothing. If this movement was not from God, it would soon fizzle out. If it was, only time would tell, and to go against it would be to go against God. So don't be hasty in your claims.

Sure, but remember, if you want it to last, you'll have to preach things that trigger other peoples' consciences (can't spell today). A succcessful prophet must sound believeable, make people feel guilty and sound like they are making sense.
