One of my best friends and I often joke about the fact we'd make a perfect couple. He always laughs and says "but unfortunately you're only attracted tot he type of me that treat you like ****" (which is true).

Yeah he's also the only guy I know who has put up with my tantrums, spent hours on the phone to me crying my eyes out, builds my confidence, tells me how wonderful I am, chats complete bollocks with me, makes me laugh until I cry, dresses up with me, acts silly with me, talks whistlessly for hours about all kinds of things with me, always makes time for me, bales me out of trouble, never loses patience and would do anything for me without ever expecting anything in return.

But now my friends have started saying it too, and it's got me thinking - but I could never compromise my friendship with him. Say if we did start seeing each other, it'd only end in disaster and I could lose a really good friend.

Is it possible to turn from friends to lovers?

I am in the same position :)

i asked him if he would go out with me in year 5 and he said maybe when we are older, his mum said we act like a couple etc but i mean after a while i got fed up of waiting for him to accept and started to lose interest! but on the other hand its kindof good because atleast now i can keep him as a best mate for ever instead of a relationship which wont last!

i think its up to you but like you said its definatly not worth going out with him then the relationhip ends and things go awkward, keep him as a very close friend which you can have forever instead of a boyfriend which most probably wont last so long.

Yes. I have a friend in my class (well he's the class swot) and we have been really good friends ever since we started doing this 50% physical contact stuff in drama and we work really well together and we are secretly going out and everyone thinks we fancy each other but we just say no and sort of stay away from each other at school. We are parteners in activities and stuff and you know that song "part time lover" you should listen to it i love that song.

yes, but it if starts to go wrong split, agree to split before it gets to the point you hate each other, sounds like to me if he feels the same way you both will have it made any way

Yes, take that risk, otherwise you could lose him eventually since how many girls do you know like their boyfriends having female best friends?

it sounds like your with him already.. you just dont have the label of being in a relationship yet or having sex..

friends with benefits are good, but a loving relationship is ten times better!

go for it!
