I have this painful kind of lump at the back of my mouth at the top of my mouth where wisdom teeth usually grow. It feels like a tooth is growing through but it could just be an ulser growing around a tooth. I'm going to the dentist soon but until them I really want to know what it is before I go. Can you help ?

Wisdom teeth can grow at 13, especially if you've been maturing faster than other people your age.

And yes, if they're breaking through the bone they hurt like all get out, according to my brother.

Your dentist is the only one that can tell you for sure. Be sure to tell him or her that you think it might be your wisdoms and if they might be able to do an x-ray and check or something.

Wisdom teeth are third molars that usually appear between the ages of 16 and 24 (ALTHOUGH THEY MAY APPEAR WHEN OLDER OR YOUNGER). They are commonly extracted when they affect other teeth—this impaction is colloquially known as "coming in sideways."[1] Most people have four wisdom teeth, but it is possible to have more or fewer. Absence of one or more wisdom teeth is an example of hypodontia. Any extra teeth are referred to as supernumerary teeth.[2][3]

Sounds like wisdom teeth. I started getting them when I was 12 so yea, it's young but it's still normal. Luckily I got to keep mine, I even had braces put on them which is pretty weird.

They can hurt and you can get them that early. Whether or not that's your problem, nobody can tell from a question on Yahoo.
