I thank Jehovah God and Jesus Christ every day of the year for the wonderful food that is on my table. if it was not for Jehovah and Jesus Christ we would not that food to eat. there is a tv commerical about thanksgiving. I laugh everytime I see it. they are thanking there family and friends and not one said that they thank God and Jesus Christ.

I think just that. I am not American or in America so Thanksgiving is not really an issue, but it's the same for all national holidays worldwide.
There was one here two weeks ago- I was so glad I had the day off from school. :-)

Whatever it is, if other people do something, they don't. I honestly think that the more things that they can condemn and dissociate themselves from, the holier they feel. It makes them feel special. They've got their own biblical misinterpretation for everything. This isn't just a quip for this question, it's something that I have thought for a long time.

They like to think they stay neutral in the world's affairs (because all the nations are in the control of Satan). They also like to think they steer clear of false religion (because all religions other than their own are in the control of Satan). Well, if they are right we ought to be worried. If they are wrong, we ought to point this out to them. Unfortunately they like to do all the pointing out and are inclined to say anyone who disagrees with them must be.... (yes, you've guessed it) in the control of Satan.
So they want us to think only 7 million people or so are NOT controlled by Satan, and everyone else is? Doesn't seem like they've got a lot to give thanks for.

What effect does it have on my life if a Jehovah Witness chooses not to celebrate Thanksgiving?

If they don't want to celebrate Thanksgiving, that's fine. More food for me.

Their organization does not want them to mix and mingle with people from different faiths so that they do not get any ideas from anywhere else than from their organization.
This is a part of the mind control.
