You probably have killed your metabolism by eating so little. You need to start eating 3 healthy meals and 2 snacks a day and getting exercise

When your body doesn't get what it needs, it holds on to the fat as a survival mechanism since it doesn't know when it will get adequate nourishment again. Your metabolism also slows down. Thus you gain or maintain weight. Your best bet is to eat a balanced diet of at about 1600 calories and do exercise that you enjoy (walking, dancing around in your room, anything that you like helps). If you are in college, there may be a dietician in your health center that can help you. If not there may be one in the community.

You don't really give enough information for us to provide you good information. That being said, it is important that your body metabolism be regular in order for your body to burn calories instead of try to keep them on reserve because you are starving your body. It is important for you to have at least 3 small meals daily to keep the metabolism functioning properly.

Along with eating regular healthy meals you need moderate exercise to keep your body from storing the fat in reserve. I dieted by starving myself for a while and it took a while to get my body functioning right again.

If this doesn't describe your situation or for instance you drink alcohol (which can add weight in a hurry) or you possibly have a disease or some other medical situation, please check with your doctor. They can usually get you hooked up with a good diet and exercise plan to help you get where you want to be.

Good luck!

You did not mention your height. Maybe you're not overweight at all. If you're exercising and gaining muscle that could be another explanation to your weight gain. Unexplained weight gain can also be related to a medical condition. Check with your doctor.
