I was looking at this Rotheram Museum exhibited that's being hosted at my school in Sheffield at the moment for the week because it's and exhibit on Islam and I was reading the creation story according to the Quran and it sounded much more believable then that of the Bible seen as the Bible says that God made the Earth out of nothing and the skys and everything out of nothing which Science goes against happening whereas the Quran says Heaven and Earth were once one ball of smoke(gas) and stars and planets began to form and they seperated which if you look at Scientific research you can actually see the stars and planets forming in the clouds of gas which ignite to form planets and stars and it just seems much more believeable then the Bible as what the Quran says you can actually see happening today.

Muslims do believe in Jesus but only as a prophet so technically I would never have to stop believing in Jesus.

Most of the established religions have an interesting doctorine and philosphy base. If you are so easily swayed I think you should make a broder based study of all religions, including Islam.
They all have something to offer, it just depends upon your spiritual bent. What you should do is look at there overall philosophies, as well as the particular theories on creation, etc.
The Quran was written at a time when men had more knowledge of science. It is also worth you looking at some of the Eastern philosophies and Judaism in depth.
Many of the sacred books are written in forms of mythology which can be interpreted in various ways. You will also find lots of paralells within them.
The ones that have been established in the last millenium are particularly patriachal based.
If you are looking for a spiritual path, as with any journey, you should keep an open mind. Be prepared to confront issues that make you feel uncomfortable, not just about others, but yourself as well. Don't dismiss something because it seems alien and be prepared to dispel previous myths.
You will know in your heart if something is really true and right.

"Muslims believe in Jesus as a prophet". To say Jesus is a prophet is not wrong, but to say that is all He is is not only very very wrong it is an insult. It is not an option based on who He said He is.
If you analyse what He said about Himself you are left with three options:
1. He was a madman who really believed he was the son of God. This seems rather improbable since a madman is unlikely to go around doing so much good for so many and anyway how would he have been able to do all those miracles?
2. He was a conman (the anti God brigade love this idea) a really good one with a lot of accomplices, whose main motive was to trick people into believing he was the son of God so he could get their money. Apart from the fact that you can't keep all the accomplices quiet forever this sounds good until you get to the end of the story. I cannot imagine any conman being willing to die for his con, and especially not like that, and watch his mates run off with the money!
3. He is the Son of God and He did die willingly to do all the things He said He would do for all of us who can't do them for ourselves.

There are no other options! So don't convert to anything except Jesus the Son of the living God!!

I would agree with you one hundred percent on the story of creation in the Qur'an. And I am very happy that your mind discovered, and your heart has taken to Islam. May Allah guide you down the straight path.

Well, I believe the Biblical account is metaphorical (or a simplistic explanation suited to the understanding of the people to whom the revelation was first given), and meshes rather well with the Islamic account, and several others, including the evolutionary account.

It's all in the interpretation.

God is the author of all truth. He gives truth according to people's ability to understand and accept.

By all means accept truth when you find it, whoever you find it with. But there is no reason to throw away one truth, just because you have discovered further truth. Put them together, to make sense of each other.

Modern Christianity has gone far off track, but one thing they have got right: Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world. To verify this fact, pray and ask God to show you in your heart and mind whether it is true that Jesus is the Saviour and Redeemer of the world. My heart says he is.

It's a good thing that you have opened your mind... The search for truth is ongoing and never ending. If you keep looking, throughout your life, everything you've ever learned will take on a deeper meaning. The things you once thought made no sense may suddenly take on deeper meaning and begin to enlighten your mind in ways you never suspected was possible.

My Motto: Embrace all truth. Reject nothing. If I never mock or condemn someone's statements (or beliefs), I know I haven't rejected something that might prove beneficial for me later on. Eventually, it all begins to make sense.

You guys are funny I cant believe all this anti-Islam going on in here.

We're all human. I'm 15 and can think like that. Get over it. Most of us just want peace.

Oh and I hope you finally come to a decision either way :)

You should research islam even more. You will find it very interesting. Read islam for dummies. Simple and matter of factly information about islam. Non bias about other religions. Easier to understand then the Quran. If you decide to get a Quran, go to the embassy of Saudia Arabia for an english version. Don't buy one from the book store. Very bad english translations.

Never decide to follow anything unless you are totally convinced of it.

Happy researching.

I was reading the replies above, It never ceases to amaze me how people can be so, for lack of a better word, "colourful"!

I do however agree that by filling you head with knowledge about all religions and making your own personal decision, you will follow what you believe in or don't believe in and no one will be able to convince you otherwise.

The Muslim's consider themselves children of Abraham, and they view Jesus, and Mose as both Prophets, but Mohommed as the greatest and last one on earth.

Before converting, look at the cultural aspects of this religion on your life. Is it a part of your family's belief system, will it advance you in your position amongst your neighbors? How does this religion relate to yourself? Are your ancestors from Europe, or from a Muslim country? All of these things matter.

Religion purpose is to be a guide to your oun spiritual world.
so if it's feels right for you to convert to Islam, do so.
you should practise the religion you are most comfortable with.
i am an atheist, for me it is most comfortable to not believe in any one, i dont say i am right that just my way to look at life.
so i have no interest to persuade to choose any particular way, not Islam, not Christianity, not atheism.
choose the religion you feel is the right for you , that my only advice. but look at it as a whole, and not if it is or it is not comparable to science.
good luck

The following Verse of the Qur'an (Chap51:47) where God is speaking, may perhaps be compared with modern ideas;

"The heaven, we have built it with power. Verily we are expanding it."

"Heaven" is the translation of the word "sama" and this is exactly the extraterrestrial world that is meant. "We are expanding it" is the translation of the plural present participle "musi'una" of the verb "aus'a" meaning "to make wider, more spacious, to extend, to expand".

Another example from a different scientific field is about the living things in general which we can find in more than one verse in the Qur'an. For example (Chap21:30) was chosen by Dr. Bucaille to present how the Qur'an talked about these scientific facts. The Verse is translated as follows:

"Do not the Unbelievers see that the heavens and the earth were joined together, then we clove them asunder and we got every living thing out of the water. Will they then not believe?"

The notion of "getting something out of something" does not give rise to any doubts. The phrase can equally mean that every living thing was made of water (as its essential component) or that every living thing originated in water. The two possible meanings are strictly in accordance with scientific data. Life is in fact of aquatic origin and water is the major component of all living cells. Without water, life is not possible. When the possibility of life on another planet is discussed, the first question is always: does it contain a sufficient quantity of water to support life?

The Quran is written in beautiful prose that continues to be marveled at by the experts of the Arabic language. But it is not merely a literary masterpiece.

The Quran contains scientific facts and explanations that fascinate scientists of all fields. But it is not an encyclopedia of science.

The Quran mentions stories of people and places in the past with vivid detail. But it is not merely a book of history.

The Quran is a revelation from the Creator of this universe to all human beings. Its most important message is the Unity of God - that there is only One Supreme Being who has no partners and is not dependent on anyone or anything. He is the Creator of everything and the whole universe is in His control. He is the only One worthy of being worshipped.

It is impossible for the created to fully comprehend the Creator - so the Quran makes us aware of Him by mentioning His Attributes. He is the most Merciful, the Loving, the Majestic, the Oft-Forgiving. The name that He has chosen for Himself is Allah.

In His infinite mercy, Allah has not left mankind to wander searching for the correct path. He has revealed the Quran which includes a code for all people to follow. Islam is not just a set of beliefs. It is a complete way of life which covers all spheres of human activity - the social, economic, political, educational as well as the spiritual. Islam enjoins good manners for every occasion and stresses treating people, particularly relatives and neighbors, with kindness. The family enjoys a high status in Islam - it is viewed as the nucleus of society.

Allah has also sent messengers to guide mankind to the truth and to be an example for others to emulate. Stories of these messengers starting from Adam and including those of Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus, and ending with Mohammed (may peace be upon them all) are found in the Quran.
