What do they mean by "unconvert" on DVD? Will it work with all TV?s I have Dish Network. Is it ready to buy

She also forgot to mention that all HDTVs will automatically upconvert SD DVD, so unless upconverting comes for "free" don't waste your money. Buy a cheap HD DVD or Blu Ray.
If you want to wait for the format war, buy the cheapest DVD player with component out you can buy.

The standard DVDs we buy are created in a 480 pixel high resolution. To "upconvert" means that a program in the DVD player increases the resolution to something higher, such as 720p or 1080i. This can make the video image look sharper.

The newer "hi def" DVDs like BluRay and HD-DVD are actually created at a higher resolution from the start.

Upconverting players should work with pretty much any tv that has component (usually), DVI, or HDMI inputs. It doesn't do much good if the tv isn't "HD" or High Definition.
