Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.
I never thought much about it until a recent major illness.............. I value the present for everything it is. It is the greatest moment because it is a gift of God, time with family, For the air I breath and mostly for my relationship with God. God holds the future and the past is done and nothing can be changed.... So, I just cherish the present. It is a PRESENT from God.

I'd wholeheartedly agree. This is greatest moment, the most important day, since I was born. And, you know what? I am confident that tomorrow will even be better than today! I believe that it can actually be that way for all those who are children of God, whether they know it or not, until the day the Lord takes them.
How is this? As long as it is called "Today", it is a new day made by our Creator in which to rejoice (Psalm 118:24). Today, God's sons and daughters can experience more of the joy and peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:4-6), more calmly and confidently the perseverance needed from God their Father in anticipation of the Sabbath rest to come (Hebrews 4:6-11), more of what is to experience God's favor by being rescued from the sin and corruption of our flesh, the world, and the devil (2 Corinthians 6:2), more of what it means to be raised to newness of life by the resurrection power of our Lord Jesus Christ (Colossians 3:1-2), and more opportunities to hear His voice with keener hearing (Psalm 95:7b), to give a reason to the dying world for the Hope that one has (1 Peter 3:15) and to serve others (Galatians 6:10) more than ever before, and with more power and glory each succeeding day as the gift of living in each new day comes (2 Corinthians 3:18; 4:16)!
Yesterday is gone, and tomorrow is still yet to come. Don't stay stuck in the past to its regrets; God forgives (1 John 1:9). Don't be obsessed with the future neither, God the Father, Who knows all, will take care of that for you too (Matthew 6:25-34) Neither is at your disposal today, so live in the moment, which is the only place where you can walk now on life's path with God, by keeping in step with the Holy Spirit's lead (Galatians 5:16).
For these reasons, I do hope and pray that your Thanksgiving Day was the best one yet, but that today is (was) even better that that!

I value the present because it's a product of the past and a prelude to the future. The present is the time when I can change how the past has affected me and how I react to it and I can make changes that will make my future a better place for me. As long as I'm breathing it's a great moment in life

Dear friend, the present moment is all we have. The past is gone forever. The future is not yet here. The present is all there is.
Plan for the future but don't worry over it. If you spend all your time clinging to the past or worrying about the future, your present slips away and you wake up to discover you've wasted your life.
Love the people around you now. Act now. Learn now.
Put the human back in being--now.

Normally the definition of religion that says its simply a strongly held belief is used as a metaphor not the base definition, not all beliefs are religious or religions. As for the idea that outsiders contaminate insiders with profane ideas is a ridiculous notion, cultures are enriched by contact with other cultures. Our Latin alphabet originated in the Middle East, as do our religions and much of our philosophy. Contact with Muslim Spain was instrumental in reintroducing inquiring thought into our universities by bring in translations of previously lost Greek authors. An insular society, historically, weakens and loses advantages to its neighbours. PS there are transitional fossils between us and our ape like ancestors, creationists just refuse to accept them.

I think we tend to get caught up in a moment and don't fully appreciate it until it's past.
Happy Thanksgiving to you also!

Past-Present-Future doesn't occur in a straight line; it's not linear. All three of those illusion of time are in themselves, each other as One Moment. The only moment IS this moment whether you want to be or not. This moment is not some OTHER moment different than NOW. This moment we're in right now is not some other moment other than itself.
