father problem?

i had only met my father a couple of times when i was younger. he has a family with other children which is understandable. he has called me a couple of times with empty promises and then i wont hear from him again until another year or so. what is his problem why cant he make up his mind on whether he wants me in his life or not. i know i should maybe forget about him but in a way i feel that i shouldnt

You have detailed what your father has not done for you, but you have not described what you have done so far to come in good books of your father. Relationship is always reciprocal. If you take five steps to be friendly and cordial with some one, he is likely to take fifty steps towards you.You have already presumed that he makes empty promises, which is not correct.He is already having a family in which he is living happily. Naturally he is not missing you at all.Now in case you want to be a part of the family, and a part of your father, it is upon you to initiate steps to be in contact with him,partake in his joys and sorrows and be in constant communication with him.In simple words, the ball lies in your court.

at this point i dont beleive its weather he wants you in his life,but do you want him in yours? its tough i have a daughter who will have not much to do with me i keep in mind she is my daughter,no matter what i will always love her and be there for herif she needs help,but life goes on either way i hope this helped some.....dont be fast to shut out your dad,this comes from one speaking from experiance....hope you have a wonderful thanksgiving
