I remove the solids once a day and put it in a litterlocker bin (keeps the smell in and has a cartridge with a long tube of plastic in which you knot at each end) Then in winter once a week change the litter and empty the bin. If I left it any longer the cats wouldn't use it. In summer I only change the litter once a fortnight. I wash both the tray and it's lid every litter change. Usually only one of the two cats uses it, the older cat prefers to go outside but in Winter he's in more.

I have 3 cats and 4 litter boxes.. I feed them a top quality food so there is less poop....

i scoop the boxes every 2 or 3 days.. and have been known to be 4-5 days...

there is a huge benefit from feeding better foods and having more litter boxes than you have cats...

When the cat craps on my bed, it's a good indication the litter box needs to be changed. Standard clay litter (not the more expensive clumping kind) about once a week to coincide with trash pickup. By 2 weeks, it just smells too bad from the ammonia.

The clumpable needs to be filtered every day (or 2) but says you can change it every 30 days. I've found that it needs to be changed every two weeks (from the ammonia), so why waste more money on it when I change regular litter each week?

My two cats happily share one large litter box, so I remove soiled litter at least four times per day and keep it topped up as necessary with fresh litter. Once a week I empty the litter box completely, wash it with non-biological washing powder, and then fill it with fresh litter.

I scoop daily, sometimes twice a day and I completely dump the litter and wash the box and replace with new litter once a week. I use recycled paper litter.

I have four cats and three litter boxes (in a studio apartment). I use scooping litter, and scoop every morning, change the whole box about once a month, whenever it starts looking really dirty.

I have 1 adult cat that dosent use the litter tray and 2 kittens that do use it, i through it all away every morning, i use the wood chip litter, so when they wee in it, it turns to saw dust, i thriugh it all away and put clean in, they love it nice and clean, they run up an poop in it straight away i then take the poop out and flush it down the toilet, the litter tray, when used and turned to saw dust then goes into my green recyling bin x

I clean it whenever it looks like it should be clean. My cat is also stubborn so he wont go to the litter box unless I clean it. He is spoiled rotten to the core.
