Hi,
I am going to clean install windows XP on my computer from CD. But my installation CD does not have the Service Pack2. I want to avoid all that time I have to spend downloading it from the net once I do the clean install of XP Home Edition.
So how do make a copy of the Service Pack 2 files so I can install it from CD? Please provide me with some steps.
Thanks in advance

download service pack 2 (SP2) from above site and burn it to cd (about 278mb size)

Actually look at this below link, it tell how to integrate window xp installation disk and (downloaded) SP2 patch and creating new custom window xp installation disk (with sp2 integrated).
http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/slipstream.htm

so when you reinstall with custom xp installation cd, window xp with sp2 is installed on your computer.(i.e. no need first install xp and then to install sp2 patch). and it is perfectly legal (from Microsoft point of view to make one for your computer with original xp installation disk)

if you use nlite program, you can custom build xp installation cd with drivers for your computers (so no need to add drivers after reinstallation as it will be automatically done)

You will need to download the service pack from Microsoft's update site. Once the service pack is installed it can not be copied. Be advised, after you install sp2 there will still be 80 or so more security patches to download and install.

Your other choice would be to order the service pack on a cd. You can get it from Microsoft, but it usually takes about 4 to 6 weeks to get the thing.

Also be advised, service pack 3 is coming out within the next couple of months.
