I have started taking driving lessons yesterday and I constantly feel I am not relaxed enough. I am not doing bad, but I just feel I need to be more relaxed, I was very nervous today and my instructor saw it.
I just keep saying to him: I don`t wanna crash your car...
How do I change this bad attitude?

As a former Driver Examiner, learning to relax in order to drive as best as possible requires several things. A very good instructor that you like. Maybe do some relaxation exercises before driving or deep breathing behind the wheel before starting. Also time will help this as your skill and confidence increases. Remember, taking lessons and then a driving test, only gives you the basics to become a good driviner. Only implementing the learned skills on a continual basis, not picking up other "bad" drivers habits. And even taking a refresher course once in a while helps. Your skill and confidence and relaxation all develop with time.

It is natural to feel all that u r experiencing the 1st day u start. Especially if u have no idea how the car works. Instuctors are trained to anticipate learner drivers reactions. It will take a few days or weeks 4 u 2 get used to the different things u need to use and how to and when to. I do not know, in my country they always fail u the first time and while it gives the driving school a little more in fees; It actually helps to drive in the determination to learn to drive well. In no time u are going to manage and amaze yourself and the instructor. Every time u seem to be able to handle the monster a little better, reward yourself with some self praise. If things get tough take a break, it work wonders. Hope u will be 'hooting' away soon. Have a nice drive.

The advanced driving guide, Roadcraft explains that the theory for greater anticipation is in accordance with taking and utilising suggestion, and that it is in accordance with: a million. What will be considered 2. What can't be considered 3. What can fairly be predicted to ensue. a million. What will be considered will be obtrusive, or a mirrored image in a save window. look ahead, in the course of the hedges and contained in the gaps, are you able to note a motorized vehicle ahead or oncoming. a fave advanced driving question is to ask the colour of the oncoming vehicle, basically after it has disappeared behind yet another hedge. 2. What can't be considered can recommend scent or noise. At a humpback bridge are you able to listen a vehicle horn? Do you decrease your window and turn off your radio that you are able to listen that vehicle horn? 3. What can fairly be predicted to ensue. this isn't inevitably obtrusive; garbage bags / wheelie packing containers on the area of the line can recommend that the Refuse Truck is basically around the nook - it is an statement link. different statement hyperlinks comprise: A circle of lamp-posts potential a roundabout A unmarried lamp-placed up is opposite a junction Steaming horse-poo potential the pony is around the subsequent nook! An uncovered bridge is a micro-climate - it receives ice even as different places are sparkling a niche contained in the hedge is a micro-climate - anticipate a facet-wind advanced driving teaches you those ideas and a thanks to stay with this suggestion, community IAM communities around the united kingdom grant loose coaching utilising volunteers like myself.

I WOULD SAY IT IS RATHER RESPONSIBLE OF YOU NOT WANTING TO CRASH HIS CAR.You know the answer to your own question ,just start to enjoy the experience ,relaxation will come,as you call it.It is exactly the same as being at sea, constant vigilance is the key, never insist you have right of way, thats one road to an accident,if in doubt take remedial action, but never forget the traffic behind you.IF you slam your brakes on can they stop as well?On the road behind the wheel, life becomes just a sockful of gnomes ears.Passing the test only means you are considered safe enough to be let out on your own,you spend the rest of your driving life learning, you will learn to vary your driving techniques to cover all types of conditions, you never stop learning.

Try to think positive and don't think about if your going to crash the car or not. Just think about what your doing and don't focus so much on what the car next to you is doing. Also try practicing on your own, the more you practice the easier it will get and the less nervous and more relaxed you will be when going to your lessons.

You are bound to feel nervous at first. It's something new to you and, like you say, you are wary of having an accident. All you can really do is just get as much practice as possible. The more you practice, the more it will seem natural to you and the more relaxed you will be.

Just a simple case of performance anxiety...you want to drive on your own SO bad....and this instructor stands in the way.

Practice...Practice....Practice.

Prior to going to driving school, imagine yourself the best driver on the road....aware....alert....no distractions....just you and all the idiots on the road.

You'll do fine in my opinion as you are the type who actually addresses their weaknesses.

Best Wishes.

Accept it for what it is - its just a car, and your learning to use it correctly. think of it as another machine your learning to use. the more lessons you have the better you will become eventually you will relax

You need to tell your instructor this so he or she knows what they are walking into. Relax! It's going to be alright.
