I think you into a question that people want to change the answer to, all to offen.

There have always been two sexes on earth. a X and a Y factor, with few exception it hold true. earth worms have both sexes hidden under that wide band at the 14th and 15th segment on their bodies. The face each other and then crawl down the others body and under the band, stop and mate. this lines up the male and the female over each other. A few fish and one or two land animals can and have changed sex do to lack of water, floods and lack of food or lack of males, or females their bodies change sex so that they can reproduce.

But thru it all you only have two sexes, male and female.

If you asking about were their gays, lesbians etc. the answer is yes. It was very common in the Roman Senate for a man to take a young boy under his wing and train him for more then just his body servant for cleaning and work as a messenger.

( In that way we haven't moved on very far from the tree so to speak when you think about the U.S. senate today ).

Matt 19:12 talks about those who were born without a gender.
They are androgynous. They can be born that way, by choice, or they can be castrated and made that way physically. They used to use them in Harems so they would not be sexually active with the women keeping the women only to the king or owner of the harem.
There were also laws that taught about gays forbidding a man to have sex with another man.

Yes, that's because there are only two sexes: male, and female.

edit: Andy, I have to correct you on that: most Greeks actually abhorred the practice, it was the nobles who engaged in profuse homosexual activity. Even then, it was only done openly in certain cities, esp. Athens.
