I've read several articles and watched many videos about Rabbis who believe that Jews are not allowed to have a state of their own. However Israel is a Jewish nation and has (according to my belief) a majority of devout Jews. Where do Israelis stand and where do the rest of the world's Jews stand?

Serious answers only please..... NO bashing

Thanks "Cathy" for makin that clear :)

But I have to comment on some of the answers from other people.
"LoveChrist": God gave them the land, but that's not what the Arabs believe (or they wouldn't fight), Arabs are a part of this and I believe that arguing on that basis just puts more fuel on the fire it's not just about the Jews.

"Thisisme": since the early 1900s (when the first immigrants arrived) there hasn't been peace in that region. They wanted something the other people wern't willing to give away; and I believe they will not give it away any time soon. So much for peace.
Plus on the same peace argument, the Arabs would argue that if the Israelis left, then THEY would have peace.

but that's not the issue. The issue was "From the Jewish point of view, is having a Jewish state, in the middle east or else where comply with Judaism"

Thanks everyone :)

There's a saying, "Two Jews, three opinions". That pretty much sums up the Orthodox take on Israel.

The anti-Zionist case, if I understand correctly, goes something like this:

1. The founders of Zionism, and the vast majority of Israelis, are/were secular.

2. There is a passage in the Talmud about how the Jews promised not to try to end the exile early (i.e., make their own state before the Messiah comes), and the nations swore not to mistreat them.

The pro-Israel response is:

1. That fact that some of its citizens are less-than-ideal doesn't invalidate the whole Jewish state idea.

2. The nations obviously broke their end of the bargain, so we don't have to keep ours.

In general, the Modern Orthodox community is pro-Israel, and the ultra-Orthodox is anti-Israel. (A notable exception is Lubavitch Hassidism- the Lubavitcher Rebbe was an outspoken supporter of Israel).
What can I say? Presumably we'll find out who's right when the Messiah comes. Until then, it's three opinions per two Jews.

1st of all, it's hard to determine what it means to be a Jew. Some people believe it’s a religion, but some Jews don’t even believe in God. Others think it’s more of a race, but there are Jews from different ethnicities. Most of the Jews think of it as an identity & a group loyalty.

Those Rabbis, who are against this state of Israel, believe that there should be no kingdom before the coming of the messiah & that he shall rebuild the Temple. They are minority anyways.

The Majority of the Jews do support the state of Israel, but for different reasons. Some are Zionists. They believe it’s pointless to try to fit in a different society & live as a minority, for the Jews have been persecuted many times for many centuries as they tried to fit in different European nations. The Zionists believe there’s no choice but to have a Jewish country by the Jews for the Jews.

Some Jewish people don’t believe in the state of Israel, yet they support it as a 2nd option. Some American Jews for example believe that since the holocaust happened in Germany it could happen in the US. Therefore, it’s better to have a plan B.

I think if you read about how
much land that God gave
to Abraham (alas, the father
of both the Jews and Arabs.)
and then read all the land that
God gave to Jacob to divide
into the 12 nations as per
the 12 tribes of Israel, it will
give you the vast amount of
land that God gave the semetic peoples.
I believe it is even outlined
farther even mentioning river
boundaries. Coincidentally,
most of it is in the region where we are presently at
war.

There is no serious division among Jews on this question, and the overwhelming majority of Jews worldwide support the idea of a Jewish state for varying reasons.

The group you're talking about is called Naturei Karta, and has been roundly condemned by the Jewish community worldwide. They're a very small but very vocal group that loves grabbing headlines by doing things like appearing at Holocaust denial conferences in Iran.

Taking this group's views of the State of Israel seriously is the equivalent of me assuming that American Christians hate US soldiers because the "Westboro Baptist Church" protests at soldiers' funerals.

Only the Levites, the children of Levi, were not give a land inheritance exactly like the other sons who are became the patriarchs of the twelve tribes.

The Almighty gave much of the middle east to the children of Israel which would extend to the Euphrates in the east. For the boundries of the entire gift it is best to read for one's self rather than the baseless words of certain rabbinical sects that wish to limit this particular thing. In the mean time the sons through Hagar drain the resources of the deeded land.

Juda was given a specific area in which to settle. Was this to be limited for all time? Not in my opinion.

A majority of Orthodox Jews (thus rabbis) are either Zionist or non Zionist. Only a minority are anti Zionist and use that argument. And within that minority, is the group of people known as Neturei Karta who are probably responsible for the videos you have watched. Even the gold standard of ani Zionism, Satmar, has rejected and disavowed them for their antics.

The land of Israel was given to the Jewish people by Almighty God. It was part of a covenant God made with Abraham...and it will always belong to the Jews.

Jews are divided on this subject. The Zionists believe that they have an absolute right to their own State. But many Jews are not Zionists and believe that Jews, those in Israel, are violating Jew customs and rules by having a Jewish State.

"According to Judaism" Israel belongs to the Jews, more land that they currently live on.

It must be that the Rabbis do not believe that others want them to have land. Who is it that is not allowing them to have a land of their own. Certainly not their religion.

Shouldn't it be the Messiah who gives the Jews their land back.

But I guess some Jews see the UN as the Messiah anyway.
