I let them boil on high until tender...just make sure there's plenty of water in the pot...once they start to boil, the water dissipates and you don't want the potatoes to stick to the bottom of the pot.
Happy Thanksgiving!

I bring them up to a boil, and then turn the burner down just a notch. Like between a full boil (which could make them fall apart) and a simmer (where they won't cook as much). I boil them about 20-25 minutes depending on how many cubes and how thick I cut them.

Do not cook the potatoes on a hard boil, nor a too soft boil. The potatoes should be cooked on a medium-high level heat.
If you boil the potatoes too hard, they will burst open and absorb water. This will make them taste , well, watery.
Also, do not cook them too slowly, This will also make the potatoes absorb too much water.

I boil em whole. Water on high boil till they're cooked through. Then mash em up, add a lil milk, garlic and butter.
I like to add carrots and butter some times or apple with sour creme and paprika.
Leave some of the skin on em if ya wantz tha best ,-)

I put the cut up potatoes in cold water, then turn up the heat to boiling and let them boil on high till they're done. The reason for using cold water to start is so that the potatoes don't get done on the outside way before they are done on the inside.
Hope I've helped.

I start out on high and usually turn them down a bit...i cook until fork tender....watch closely and don't over cook....its important to make sure they are drained very very good....then i add tons of butter or marg (like a stick or more depending how many you are cooking) and salt to taste but the key to great mashed potatoes is i use evaporated milk (pet milk) instead of regular milk....this makes them very tasty and rich....yes, they are fattening and i only make them like this on special occasions....but they will melt in your mouth and everyone will love them...enjoy

I boil my potatoes whole with the skin, THEN I peel while warm and the skin just falls off (much, much easier) and then mash! Why take the time to cut them up, when your just gonna mash them!

Not if the pot is boiling over and don't lid the pot either it WILL boil over. Also i like to use half and half in lieu of milk and i always warm it up so not to cool off the potatoes.

Yes, you've got it. Just use a big pot so it doesn't boil over and mess up the stove! Oh yes, put the lid on the pot & they will cook faster.
