Islam seeks to enforce Sharia Law in every nation in the world, by force if it needs be.
Islam means "submission"....to Allah, to the Sharia, & to his prophet.

Answer of Sister misslolg... is very correct, precise and too the point.

I may add that Shariah Laws are based on God's Laws written in Quran and Torah also.

And in Islamic government interest group lobysts can't influence and have laws made favourable to them by bribing the elected representatives against the teachings of Quran and Sunnah. I don't mean to say that bribes and personal favoritism doesn't exist there. It does work in getting the contracts and jobs and several other matters like in every other country.

Sharia law is based on Islam not culture!, "Sharia" means 'way' or 'path'. Sharia deals with many aspects of day to day life which includes politics, economics, family, contracts, sexuality, etc..
Sharia is more and based on the Quran and (hadiths) sayings of the prophet Mohammed, and the laws from the Quran its self which is Islam.
It teaches one how to live and go about there day or if they have an issue they can relate it back to sharia law.
But it does not mean Muslims living in another non Islamic country have to disobey the laws of that country on the contrary it teaches Muslims to be law abiding citizens and have respect of the country and if you do your research on sharia law it teaches Muslims how to live in the most beautiful ways.

SALAM- PEACE WITH YOU

Hadiths.

They are written accounts of how the prophet conducted himself. There is much discrepency about these books because obviously the world of man is not infallible (as is the Quran). Most Islamic dispute comes from the questionable authenticity of the hadiths.

Peace.

It IS based on Islam. However, there is not one single country that implements it fully and properly as it should be. Any country that does so would prosper in all aspects of life. If you study Islamic history, you will find there was a time in which poverty was eliminated 100%. Islam is a complete way of life and when it is followed properly, LIFE IS GOOD!

p.s. please learn about it first. don't just believe the hype you see allover the media.

Sharia is the Islamic law, the same as Christian Sharia and Jewish Sharia. Every religion has its sharia or laws. Islamic sharia is derived from rules stated in Koran. Islamic sharia forbids some one marrying his sister. Christian sharia does not have that. Islamic sharia forbids Alcohol, Mormon shaira forbids Alcohol. Moslem sharia forbids Gambling, Christian sharia omits any mention. Islamic sharia forbids usury, Christian sharia does not mention that. Christian sharia is deficient as compared to Islam therefore they have to go to Judaic bible to resolve problems. In Islam there is no such need. Sharia is flexible with time and it is up to scholar to adapt it to our times. Sharia is not made by chisel and stone like the ten commandment and the Sabbath.

Sharia law is a sham. It only protects men and makes women into cloth-covered targets. Check out this YA question:

I'm sickened to know this still happens in the 21st century.

The horror that poor woman went through and not a peep out of Amnesty International to put a halt to those Barbarian Muslims ripping a human woman's back open with 200 lashes. That's DISGUSTING!

Muslim men are pigs if they just stand back and watch this happen and don't protest strongly to that asswipe judge that the woman should be found innocent of any wrong-doing!

Muslim women ... remember this and take care. There's a saying that Christians use. It goes:
"There, but for the grace of God, go I."

It means the gang-raped woman did NOTHING to deserve what was done to her. It could be YOU in her shoes right now.

Remember that Muslim men say they revere and respect you, but if, (God forbid) you ever need them, they will turn their backs on you all when their brothers want to act like dirty, humping animals against one of your sisters!

As a woman, I am totally disgusted.
