The way he is described in xian superstition and mythology it seems 'god' is the original "brain in a vat".

At the very least a vastly superior intelligence! The human brain's complexity shows a higher intelligence behind it, the ability to reason, to produce feelings, to dream and plan, to take action, and relate to other people. How does one explain the human brain? "Chance," "mutation," or "natural causes" are insufficient explanations.
