I was just taken off them.
I had a blood clot and they said I wasn't at risk of getting any more clots, so they will do tests first but if you are ok they will just stop.

If you were on anticoagulants for six months, you must use blood thinners like aspirin or Loprin for some time, some times too much of this drug causes internal bleeding in stomach. Why were you on this drug for so long? Are you having heart disease or been through Orthopedic surgery or were on bed for long time?

They will slowly wean you off so that your body adapts to the consistency of the blood. You shouldn't need to take anything else if you have no other existing disease. If you do, such as vascular disease/heart disease they may need to put you on long term aspirin.
