I had this done when the Dr tried to break up a gall stone. The spray tasted like paint and I thought I was going to die during the procedure. Being asthmatic it was twice as bad, I think I may have even passed out for a few seconds from not being able to breathe. As a result the Dr damaged my throat during the procedure. I'm unable to eat certain foods w/o gagging or choking, such as popcorn, lettuce, shredded carrots. He wanted to try it a second time, and I flat out refused, which is a good thing, I ended up needing major surgery due to the size of the stone and almost died during the operation.
He's told me to come back so he can "stretch" my throat so I won't have trouble eating certain foods but I wouldn't go back to this man if he was the last Dr on earth....not for nothing, but I think the medical profession as a whole in Florida is where all the Dr.s that couldn't get a job anywhere else come, for the most part they are totally incompetant, most barely speak English and must have gotten their medical training in some third world country....sorry to vent, just telling the truth (speaking from experience....and many medical horror stories since I moved here 17 yrs ago from NY where the Dr.s actually CARE about their patients and give them correct treatment.)

The conditions you experienced are normal. Our body is designed to act like this by nature. The tube is long, our body figures it as unhealthy to eat, so we feel like vomiting and suffocation,

I had it done last year and dont rememeber a thing they also give you a Intravenous sedation medication that makes you do what they say but dont remember a thing. My son had that medication when he dislocated his shoulder and they used it to put his shoulder back in. He got in an argument w/ my husband when he woke up cause he didn't remember them fixing his shoulder. Good Luck!!
