According to the book of Exodus the REAL 2nd Commandment is "Thou shalt not make unto me any graven images or any likeness of anything that is in the heaven above, in the earth beneath and is in the water under the earth." It also adds "Thou shalt not bow down to them nor serve them, For I the Lord thy God am a jealous God".

So does splitting the 2nd commandment and replacing it with a lie an act of blasphemy??!?!

The Lord has warned that anyone who adds or takes away from the 'Words of this book" (Bible) the Lord will deal with them harshly. It's interesting that you have said this because in order for the catholic church to still end up with 10 commandments they must have deleted another one. The catholic church is nothing but a huge farce as it teaches a gospel which is other than the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Little wonder the Lord will destroy the catholic church during the tribulation for the reasons given in Revelation Ch.17 V1-9

Sure it is an act of blasphemy. They thought they could do that to camouflage christianity and make it attractive to idol worshippers. But it is really against the the word of God. They also changed the Sabbath from the seventh to the firt day of the week. Daniel prophecied this long before in Daniel 7.

That commandment was taken away by the incarnation of God , Jesus, ever heard of him?.Moses made a serpent in the desert, God commanded 2 cherubim to be graven and put on the Ark- you say that God violated his own commandments?

Jesus can be painted and venerated.

Foloowing is copied and pasted from Exodus 20, with teh verse numbers kept:

1 Then God delivered all these commandments:
2 "I, the LORD, am your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery.
3 You shall not have other gods besides me.
4 You shall not carve idols for yourselves in the shape of anything in the sky above or on the earth below or in the waters beneath the earth;
5 you shall not bow down before them or worship them. For I, the LORD, your God, am a jealous God, inflicting punishment for their fathers' wickedness on the children of those who hate me, down to the third and fourth generation;
6 but bestowing mercy down to the thousandth generation, on the children of those who love me and keep my commandments.
7 "You shall not take the name of the LORD, your God, in vain. For the LORD will not leave unpunished him who takes his name in vain.
8 "Remember to keep holy the sabbath day.
9 Six days you may labor and do all your work,
10 but the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD, your God. No work may be done then either by you, or your son or daughter, or your male or female slave, or your beast, or by the alien who lives with you.
11 In six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them; but on the seventh day he rested. That is why the LORD has blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.
12 "Honor your father and your mother, that you may have a long life in the land which the LORD, your God, is giving you.
13 "You shall not kill.
14 "You shall not commit adultery.
15 "You shall not steal.
16 "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
17 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male or female slave, nor his ox or ***, nor anything else that belongs to him."

Following is what the Catholic Church teaches is the first commandment, copied from the Catechism -

I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself a graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them or serve them

The 2nd is like the 1st: Mt 22:39
The 1st is sin and death: Rom 8.
Pretty good reason to flush it all.

No, blasphemy is saying "I don't believe in your religion."

I doubt that people are thickheaded enough to worship a piece of wood. Don't be silly!
