Replacing the CCD image sensor in my old camera (Canon Powershot A 300) or getting a new camera (preferably the Creative PC-CAM 950 Slim)

It will be too expensive to repair your A300.

Why not replace it with a newer model Canon? The PC-Cam is not one you'll be happy with (IMO) for everyday picture taking. Note the use of the word "interpolation" in the description for it. Its a marginal 5mp camera with a digital zoom (guaranteed to give lousy images) and unless all you want it for is as a web cam a waste of money IMO.
