Lowe's and HD are generalists and do not know all the intricacies. I am asking as I recall something I had read some years ago about a specialty paint.

There are paints that can be used on kitchen cabinets, but they won't hold up over the long term. They are more of a quick fix to get a house on the market to sell without a large expense. However, I guess you could keep doing it every few years, and still be money ahead. I do not know the brands of the paint and the steps involved in applying the paint. I just know about it because the house my nephew bought had painted kitchen counters. They bought the house five years ago, and the counters are still good, but they are both professional people, always traveling, and seldom use their kitchen for more than coffee in the mornings. You can ask at Lowe's or Home Depot, and someone can tell you what to use and how to use it. Likewise, almost any good lumber/hardware store can tell you. If you can't find anything that way, try hgtv.com.

I wouldn't use paint on kitchen counters'tops,as time goes on you would get peeling.Which could contaminate foods!

Take care!

Yes, I think it's called melamine but check with your local paint store.
