I'm planing on going into the Air Force in 2 month, but I have a couple of question I would like to get some info on:
1)Are the dorms Co-Ed, can you have Air women sleep over in your dorm (I'm a man)
2)While I'm their I get my B.A. can I then become a Commission Officer?
3)I hear the service is just like a regular job, is it like a regular job in the sence that i would go in at 8am and out by 5pm, and if so, would I be able to go out into the town? is their a time they want you back?
4)What is the ratio of men to women?
5)Can you drink on base?
6)Do you work on weekends? and If you don't will i be able to leave the base for the weekend?
Ok that's it, These are the only questions that I have now, I have recieved answers to my most importan question already. But I just though of these, so any help would really... help.

Ok everybody, it's not that I want to join the AF for the tail or to party, I already had the though question answer so I just wanted the simple question now. I'm going in to give my country my time, but that doesn't mean I want to stop living for 4 years.

1) In tech school there will be stringent rules in which you can't even have women on your floor (gayest rule ever). Regular Air Force dorms you will normally share a bathroom with another person and having co-ed visitation shouldn't be a problem, but use of your bathroom has to be approved by your suite-mate.
2) There are programs available for this to happen, from what I understand it's more trouble than it's worth, if I were you just wait out your enlistment and re-up as through the commsion program
3) Tech school you're treated like a little child, you'll have constant restrictions that won't allow you to go or do anything. Regular AFSCs are generally shift-work (8-10 hour day), but expect to do inspections every so often that will require a 12 -14 hour shifts. No it's not like a regular job, your recruiter lied; it's more like a regular job than most other branches, but you'll be required to maintain the Air Force morals, look, and feel. this means plenty of places will be off limits, you'll be required to keep "physically fit", you'll follow the UCMJ, and hundred of other things you'd never have to do in a civilian job.
4) I'd say about 60% men 40% women, (sad to say, but if you're on a base co-located with army or Marines, your chances drop dramatically)
5)Class 6s on-base allow for all the drunkeness you can imgaine, not allowed to drink 24 hours within range-time, you're screwed if you drink underage or provide alcohol to a minor (you've been warned). Keep parties quiet and you won't have a problem with SF
6) Job dependent, guaranteed you will have to put in some off hours work, yes you're weekend is your weekend.
Little advice, you seem like one of those people who think the Air Force isn't military, if you believe that GET OUT OF YOUR CONTRACT! because I don't want somebody complaining about how the Air Force lied him in my military.
Mark my words, look at your reasons for joining, if serving your country isn't in the top three, than you are going to have a miserable 4-6 years.

1)Once out of Basic and Tech school, you may have woman in your dorm room
2)Yes you can apply for commissioning after enlisting
3)Some jobs are 7am-4pm or 8-5 ... and others are 12 or 14 hour shifts.. with odd days off and on. And some just work by the flying schedule
4)My best guess is about 80% Male 20%Female
5)Yes you can drink on base
6)Some jobs work weekends, on rare occasion (in korea) we will be restricted to base for some time

What are you going to do with gerbils? Are you from California? No, you're not allowed any pets on base or in the dorms, it is strictly prohibited... maybe a fish tank would be okay, but you have to get permission.

1: NO. the barracks are separate, and most likely you will have a roommate as well. the opposite sex is NOT allowed in the Barracks room.
2: Not necessarily. just having a 4 year degree does not mean you can get a Commission.
3: Not necessarily. you could be on shift work, or you could work three days on, three days off. there may or may not be a curfew( that would depend on several factors such as your age, your location and the CO's policy).
4: No clue, but don't join if all you are interested in is some tail. your co workers, most of them at least, will be professionals just like you and expect to be treated with respect.
5: yes, as long as you are of legal age. it may be restricted in the barracks however.
6: Yes, sometimes, and yes, if you are not on duty your weekends tend to be yours to do with what you will, within reason.
Please note that while you are in tech school, there will be more restrictions( most likely no drinking period, no leaving the base on weekends at least at first, etc)
