The word Pagan is it'self originally a from of persecution, the word being a term of abuse, meaning hick or bumpkin.

If you are referring to persecution because of their faith, I would have to say that the Believers of Jesus Christ would top the list. World wide and throughout history, it has always been God's chosen people that are persecuted for their beliefs.

i bet women are the most murdered. the witch trial estimates were in the millions. not to mention all the women killed for getting pregnant out of wedlock.
jews did alot of murdering as well. promised land massacre- heathens killed for land, golden calf massacre- their own people killed for making a statue, etc.
