Okay atheist think believing in any kind of god is silly and time consuming and only the ignorant and uneducated or the completely brainwashed can believe in such none sense. Then they come on here and see all the questions and answers and that is enough to make up their minds for them.
They can open a bible and read and it is not hard for anyone to see that the bible says one thing while the different divided warring churches says many different things and all claim to be the one church that the bible talks about, come any first grader can tell you that one is one not thousands. Now if all Christians spoke the same thing and spoke only where the bible speaks and is silent where it is silent and all spoke the same thing like Paul said they should then maybe the atheist could say you all are on to something.

The evidence appears to point in that direction.
Peace is with me, mainly because I don't need an imaginary friend to be able to cope with life and death.
Please apply your claimed intelligence and tell us why we should believe in the invisible sky-wizard?
Please also tell us why all previous gods were invented by mankind and why this late-comer of yours is not an invention of the weak, just as much an invention of ancient man as all the rest?
Please do tell why your jolly chap in the clouds hasn't dealt with all the other very many 'false' gods that other civilisations currently worship, when it is clearly stated and 'recorded' in your bible that it used to kill off anyone who didn't believe.
In the same way, why didn't your silent friend smite the Ancient Greeks for worshipping all their many gods and goddesses while they were in vogue? same for the Ancient Romans, the mayans, the Aztecs, the Australian aborigines, etc, etc and including your own native Americans? Thus, all phooey tripe.
Come on, there are so many inconsistencies with the belief in a deity that it has ceased being funny. It just provides the sensible populace with a chance to ridicule the childish idea.
Just because you WANT it to be true SO MUCH, does not actually make it true. Your probable childhood indoctrination into the system was so powerful that you simply can't apply your claimed intelligence and shake it off - because you don't want to. You do not want reality to be real, you want a fantasy to be real. What a great shame.
Am I right in assuming that you are in the US?
Tell me why the US is so backward compared to Europe. The bulk of Europeans are atheist. On average, each Euro country is about 76% atheist and this is growing as the older generation fades out. The only reason religion persists in any country is the indoctrination of impressionable young children who also WANT so badly to believe the lovely jesus stories and the promise of a heaven to go live in later. That death is not the end. It would be very nice if it were all true but the cold hard facts are that it isn't. It's a very old pack of lies used to comfort ancient man and to gain control over them, to make them behave. I am not ancient man and neither are you.
The time does come to most people, at the reaching of the age of reason, usually 12 years old, when they see through the nonsense and they put aside childish things.
The perfect god has really fouled up. This planet is a mess and has been right from the beginning. It is NOT the perfect place for mankind to inhabit. So poorly-designed that most of it is UNinhabitable.
Give up. Your story is sheer hogwash from beginning to end AND most of it is borrowed from other older religions. Check out the similarity between the life of the Ancient Egyptian god, Horus, and your friend Jesus. Who is real? Who is a direct copy of whom?
You just KNOW that atheism is the only logical choice.

Hi there,
Is it really necessary to flair up about "what the Atheists" think about the Christians?
What who thinks (Atheists or whoever) does it really matter. What matters is God's Statement about us (not His opinion).
"His banner over us is Love"
"We were created in His image and Likeness"
"We have the mind of Christ"
How should we respond so somebody who has said those words? Please not I say respond and nor react!
1 Cor 13 - Please read and you will see a portrait of Christ.
What about the fruit of the spirit in Galatians?
Remember we are Christ's Ambassadors on Earth.
I suggest we stop worrying about others say about us and rather concentrate on what God want us to do for Him today.
Take Care almost holy anger

There are many atheists on here who are great people as well, but I know what you mean. There's the people who believe that religion=stupidity, to which I point to the countless great scientists who were people of Faith; From Darwin to Georges LeMaitre (The Priest who formulated the Big Bang Theory) and Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.

Dismissing people one does even know anything about is much easier than giving reasons for one's beliefs and assumptions
most of the greatest minds of history were and are theists
unfounded stereotyping is intellectually lazy and dishonest
especially since theism is more logical, mathematically probable, emotionally satisfying and morally driving than atheism IMHO

You only have to read what they say about the Catholic Church. They take great pride in ridiculing every aspect about it,and the sad thing is they really believe what they are saying.Brainless uneducated hypocrites is not good enough to describe them. This will upset them : God's Mother Mary, said at one of her recent apparitions at Medjugorje "One cannot truly believe ,be a Christian,if he does not respect other religions as well. You do not really believe in God if you make fun of other religions. They should not be called Christians and they do not believe in God. They can't even agree who God is because of the different Bibles they read. That makes them look stupid when they try to convince Atheists about the existence of God.Actually no Christian should try to convince a non-believer about God. The correct way of doing it is by prayer and sacrifice,or is that too hard ?The list goes on and on.

I think that you've made a good point about stereotyping.
Case in point:
We are told that if we are educated, the only reason we graduated with our Master's Degrees, etc. is that we cheated and/or bribed our teachers.

I think a few people do it just to bait us.
Peace Be with you as well.

I cannot speak for anyone here, but sugar, I know one atheist personally and his point of view about Christians is that anyone who believe in God are delusional and are hallucinating, and are schizophrenics.
He claims to know what real Christians are, and does not. He thinks Christians are dangerous people.
I have been in the company of people who are atheist or those who believe in God but don't desire to practice, I do not mind, as long as they don't try and make me feel wrong for not being atheist and be prejudiced towards me. Respect my choice to believe, and I'll respect yours.
You're right: We need to end stereotypes, and just look at individuals just being themselves.

I am Christian and know of few fundamentalists that I dont consider hypocritical
The churches I grew up in the leaders were very hypocritical. They all preach that drugs are bad and that your body is the temple of god, but they all smoked like chimneys and drank like fish.
They preach love and and acceptance of all ppl. Yet a very poor family was kicked out of church (literally the deacons asked them to leave) bc the wife and daughter were in less than clean t shirts and pants instead of freshly pressed printed dresses. I was called a satan worshiper bc I wore black lipstick. The one time I actually went to the alter to pray I was berated and harrassed to confess my sins publically to the entire congregation. I just felt I needed to pray.
In my adult life I have tried several different churches and find the same things no matter where I go. I finally quit attending church.

I don't say everyone is. I'm friends with a couple of Christians, and they are absolutely wonderful.
But look at the majority of the responders here:

There is a huge problem with ignorance peddled by religious belief systems. I aim for the extremes.
