You're under a misapprehension if you think the name of King James is ''worshipped'', as you inaccurately claim.

In the United Kingdom, where this version of the bible was translated and published in 1611, the correct name is - and always has been since 1611 - the Authorised Version. It is only known as the King James Version in North America.

There are a few reasons why this version has such popularity:

1. Until recently, the Authorised Version was the official biblical text of the Church of England.

2. The poetic beauty of the translation is aesthetically appealing to many people.

3. Many fundamentalist groups such as the Christadelphians, prefer to the AV to other translations because so many concordances have been made using the AV as the primary biblical text. They also argue that it is easier to identify and isolate textual inaccuracies in the AV than it is in more modern versions because of the problem of certain inaccuracies in translations being compounded from text to text.

4. As the most prevalent (and oldest) translation of the bible that is still popularly available, it has a certain tradition attached to it that makes it a favourite among many who prefer the more ''hallowed'' language of the AV to more modern and vernacular translations.

5. While it is not the first translation of the bible into English - Tyndale's bible preceded the AV by at least 80 years - it incorporated the best of Tyndale's translation work and it was the first officially authorised English version of the bible that had access to the best scholars of the period. This, together with the royal imprimatur, gave it an official status that went well beyond what Tyndale could have achieved.

King James did not write that
Bible. He ordered it written.
He pulled out the most intelligent monks and the ones best in linguistics to painstakingly read/interpret/hand write section after section. If there
was disagreement, they stopped and studied it for
a long time. Each step was
done with much prayer and
fasting.
As I recall, it took 3 years,
at which time it went before
the church elders and they
studied and prayed.
Remember, there were many
scriptures written by many
people.
There was a council that
studied and studied and finally
settled on what they felt was
truly from God.. They then
canonized these scriptures
into the original Bible.
Why is it so popular. Because it is the closest
interpretations to the original
that exists.
When the Dead Sea Scrolls
were found,(someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it was in 1954) they were copies of scripture made centuries AFTER the originals.
When these copies were
matched to the King James,
they were found to match
exactly.
I believe the original Dead
Sea Scrolls are now shown to
the public, somewhere in
Jerusalem.

The King James Version 1611 AD. “It was designated the Authorized Version by King James of England however no Parliament ever approved this designation… For the first time, England was reading one Bible at home and hearing the same Bible read in church. It stilled all controversy and became so accepted that some said there was no distinction between it and the original text…Almost nine tenths of the New Testament is word for word from the Geneva Bible. This version has been revised several times but is a good and time honored translation that has impacted several generations.

King James has nothing to do with the book but allowing and probably having some appointed to bring it to the world. God just may have caused it.

He did not want to start a world war in the 1600's, so Sepulchre, cave, pit, tomb, grave, burial grounds or cemetery is hell, religions exist with their beliefs as Pharisees and rich man an Lazarus and the living dead Luke 16: 14-31; Luke 16:16,17,29,31 [ search law and prophets for truth ], and only the apostles of Jesus would know what Jesus meant, then there is Tophet or Gehenna and tartarus hell to learn, but how can there be such a hell for the heaven and hell teaching, [ is the heaven and hell teaching inspired by God? note that the fire is everlasting, note it says prepared for angels luke 20:34-36; angels do not die, people fry like bacon and are consumed like Sodom and Gomorrah]. Rev.10:7-10 [ after the 1000 yrs, Rev.21:8 [ of the 1000 yrs ];

There is the resurrection of the just and the unjust to face 1000 years Acts 17:31; 24:15; judgement day. John 5:26-29; Dan.12:2; Isa.26:19; Eze.37:12-14; Psm.104:29,30; 1Cor.15:22-28,51-53; Rom.14:9-12; Rev.20:1-6,12,13;
Acts 1:9-11; Rev.1:7; He comes back as he left, and every eye shall see him, even they that pierced him. Rev.3:12; coming down out of heaven from God.
Philip.2:5,9-12; 2Cor.5:10; Every one is to face his savior.

At 2007 after Christ, the bible has been in circulation in the world 396 years,
Moses was at Exodus 3560 years ago, and the New Testament speaks as if Jesus is coming very soon, he will be coming soon after the world get the bible and he has been dealing with people in sin since we began, people with a few short years to learn and Satan as god of this world 2Cor.4:3,4; that ends, he has the power to blind the minds, along with the book being an over whealming challenge to learn for those really trying, time is short to do it and know that the world does not get the bible until the time for Jesus is soon after, so few people of the 6073 years after Adam have ever heard there is such a book and what would that population be? They will all know.

People are trying to figure out the bible. What does it really mean?

There had to be a times when God was protecting what ever part of it was written at the time. It has got to be by his hand that we have this book.

The question of King James came up in my bible study a few years ago and none of us knew anything about the man. I would offer that you are in the same fog. Google him up and see the reason WHY he is so remarkable.
If it were not for King James we would not have the richness and depth of scripture that is the English version of the Bible. I used to have a hard time with this translation and I usually don't use the KJV in my normal reading but I keep it handy to refer to when I question something I read.
To understand why this man, who was the first to unite England and Scotland together, now known as Great Britan, as King James the VI and I, find and read his own words to his sons about HOW to be a king. It is known as the Basilicon Doron and it will give you a tremendous insight into the man, King James.
By the way, he did not write the version that we speak of. He underwrote it.

Because they do not do their study. The bible says, in two Timothy, that it's the encouraged phrase of God, and an extra verse(are not able to recollect in which) says that the phrase of God has been preserved from blunders. These verses are used to justify the notion within the KJV being awesome. Of direction, the ones 2 verses are in EVERY translation of the bible, so the query stays which one to hear? Ask a KJV-handiest this, and they're going to practically say "The KJV of direction!". There isn't any biblical or old foundation for this declare whatever. It is by means of some distance the worst translation - including complete sentences in locations and disposing of complete sentences in others. It used to be a translation from a medieval manuscript that used to be a remaking of the originals, and has accordingly been remade greater than different types. It has even been modified more than one occasions because being translated into English. If you sit down a KJV-handiest individual down and exhibit all of them this with proof to again you up, sadly many nonetheless may not concentrate. They'll with no trouble declare that the KJV is encouraged by means of God or even awesome to the types it used to be translated from - with 0 proof to help this. So, I wager, eventually, a few Christians believe that on the grounds that they are just a little too cussed.

It is popular because it was one of the first to be available in English. It is also popular because it is simply beautiful in its literary composition. Due to this fact, it lends itself very well to memorization.

If you read the translation notes from the original translators, they were well aware of various difficulties and that they could have done a better job in some areas.

Is this a problem? No. There are no major versions of the "Christian" Bible that vary from the oldest manuscripts (some from the early 2nd century) by more than 2-5% and at that, no major teaching of Christianity is in question between them.

All of this said the KJV is still a find Bible if you are comfortable with it. There are also other fine choices. We can discuss the pros and cons of each if you wish to discuss textual criticism (the science of reconstructing ancient texts).

Actually he's been dead so long that I doubt that pride is an issue with him. He was the first to have the Bible translated into English. At the time that meant Old English and since he was the one who had that done that version of the Bible is called the King James version. I personally find it difficult to read and much prefer the NIV version of the Bible.

It was not King James who translated the KJV. It was named so because he authorized it.

It is so popular because of its Shakespearean English.

No, only the original texts (the autographs) were inspired.

Christians do not worship King James' name.

King James funded the translations. There was a committee formed of learned scholars that on the average, each knew 11 languages fluently. King James is dead. He isn't aware of what is going on.
