I was not blaming the atrocities of Communism upon Atheism...But the link is undeniable...

Christianity is not involved in the Holocaust...Look at the New Covenant scriptures and it is clear that no one in that part of the Bible ever promoted any such viewpoint.

Atheism and Communism is not synonymous.

I accept the historical links, just as some Christians accept that Hitler was a Christian, but oppose everything he stood for.

I am disgusted by communist governments, tyranny and laws restricting personal freedoms, and the often godlike status conferred to communist leaders who were willing to destroy their populations (Mao Zedong, Pol Pot). I also do not see atheism as the culprit for these systems, but it was a part of their philosophy (anyone who has read Marx's "opiate of the masses" can notice the link. But correlation is not causation.

Atheism is a lack of belief in gods. I do not think that atheism it is amenable to violence against other human beings. Rather, the more likely culprits are systems of belief that are organized and have control over large populations -- anything that self-insulates by stopping criticism from the other side (whether political, religious, or whatnot) are more likely to be lend themselves to brutality.

There's at least one God sanctioned biblical genocide of the Old Testament, the Canaanites and another tribe that I can't remember. So, read the bible thoroughly.

I'm an atheist, and I'm right wing as hell.

The people killed by the communist regimes weren't killed in the name of atheism. Communists typically regarded religious organisations as a hindrance towards the creation of a worker's paradise. Some religious groups also opposed the communists. We are generally looking at political issues, not a question of atheism.

Stalin most certainly was unfamiliar with the humanistic underpinnings of atheism; his goal was to create a totalitarian state in which he became the new god, whose dictates were not to be questioned. The massacres of Stalin's reign were committed in the name of statism, not atheism.

BTW the persecution of the Jews that lead to the holocaust had everything to do with historic Christian belief that the Jews killed Jesus. Hitler used centuries of bad feeling to aid him in mass murder, even claiming that he was finishing the Lord's work.

Atheism was a major player in communism and anyone who says it wasn't has never been to the countries that were ruled by communists. Communism used atheism in an attempt to destroy religion because religion supported the rights of people and free will, which communism was against. And any attempt to link Christianity with fascism is flawed because Christianity never backed fascism and only fought on the same side as the fascists during the Spanish civil war in an attempt to defeat the communists who perpetrated horrible atrocities on priests and religious.

The link that Christianity has with fascism is that is that Christianity was instrumental to the agenda of Fascism..

Why is that so difficult to understand?

Christianity is a strong part of Fascism...Look at where ever Fascism has taken root, Christianity is always present

Fascist utilized Christianity to empower the state...If no God were present, Fascism would fail because the people would be devoted to something higher than the divinely appointed fürher...

That is one of the things the Romans hated about the Jews and atheists and that is what Fascists hated/ hate about the Jews and atheists as well...

Fascism and Christianity are together in history inextricably and forever, so if you don't like it, get over it...

Because it is not going to change...

It is the same as how psuedoscience is forever entangled in its messes...it is so with Christianity...

I understand your desire to attempt to separate the two...but Fascism and it's constant partner, Christianity, did what they did together not separately...

Oh, my friend...you SO don't get it.

Communism has never existed. It is a tool that dictators use to justify totalitarian regimes. Communism, in it's pure form, is the noblest form of people living together that has ever been devised, and is described in Acts as how the early apostles lived---they sold their belongings and lived communially.

There has never been a communist country---the ruling elete always lived far, far better than the prolotariat. (sp)?

religion was instrumental in breaking up the Soviet bloc---specifically, the Catholic Church in Poland. Of course, that was before you were born...

Atheism does not exist. People who are in conflict with God and deny Her existance are in a battle to deny something that, on some level, they know to exist. Atheists are full of crap, agnostics are honest, and believers are either right or wrong.

Your question is riddled with inaccuracies.

You imply that the Roman Empire was atheist? Your confusing atheism with polytheism. The Romans had an entire pantheon of gods of which the head god was Jupiter.

The People's Republic of China has allowed freedom of Religion since 1978 and there is no clamping down on Religious communities, by far the largest religion is Buddhism.

What are you trying to prove? You're definition of the communist agenda is partly right, but mostly wrong. The fact of the matter is that atheism is not a religion. I don't mind that communism and atheism are linked because I don't consider myself a member of a group, I consider myself an individual with my own thoughts and ideas.

Do you really think it was a good idea to back up your buddy Carl. That guy gives Christians a bad name.

Communism is a form of government that is the most basic and most flawed. It has nothing to do with religious ties. It did not develop because of atheism nor did it have anything to do with atheism, it grew to power in nations that had no established religion to tell the followers what to think, so the communist branch told them what to think. Having no primary religion doesn't automatically make a nation atheist prone, it just makes the people free to make whatever decision they want to make, and a populace seems to be unable to complete this task.

It's all based on power. Communism doesn't want religion because they don't want to share power. If you're trying to black-ball atheism, remember that 9/11 was a result of religious conflict.

I don't know ...... read the part :

You shall not believe in gods ..... you shall believe in the party ..... sounds familiar?

I am God your lord, you shalt not put other gods before me.

Anyway, Communism is a political ideology, Atheism is a religious ideology (loosely speaking) there are as much similarity as saying Christianity is instrumental to the agenda of Totalitarianism, which is total bullsh*t.
