Is there a good web site where I can post photos and people will be able to buy from this site?

If you have any other suggestion apart from a website please let me know! :o)

Rocks for someone just starting out selling photos commercially. I started selling via this site about a year ago and so far it has paid for a brand new DSLR and few good lenses. They have super fast review times and arn't has hard to get into as some of the other microstock sites. Watch out though. It is very addictive. Stop by the forums also. They are filled with tons of great information about photography. Good luck

Since the advent of digital photography, it seems half the population has turned into professional photographers.

I used to have a professional wedding photography business during the film days. I racked in money by the bucket full just doing it part time. Finally got bored with it and hung it up.

Then digital photography happened and after it became almost as good as film, I decided to go back into business. I opened up shop again and within 3 months went out of business.

I'm not trying to discourage you, but that is the reality today.

I would consider yourself very lucky if you can get your foot into this very competitive business. It's a lot more then just taking pretty photo's, it's being able to market yourself and your style. You really need to hit the bricks, talk to pro's, contact stock photo agencies, etc.

Peace

Jim

It is difficult to say if your images are good enough for stock without seeing your work. Only few images will sell in stock and they have to be top notch. Here are some high end sites where you can place images for stock sale. If your images are just average be prepared for them to sit on those sites for years to come with no sales. If you have great concept images and or people images they are high in demand. For people photography you will be required to have model releases. Check www.asmp.org to get more information.
