Why is it that Christians are ashamed about their link too the Communists? After all it is often said that all are created equal in the eyes of god.

You are referring to two different things. What link would this be?
Many Communists believe in one religion or another. Why do you spend all day on R&S? Do you have a life?

What link is that ? Just because some Atheist's were communist does not mean all Atheist's are. I mean if you are a child molester that doesn't mean all Christians are ? So are you ashamed of your link to child molestation? Just because some people adhere to a certain philosophy or in your case a belief, doesn't mean it represents the views of the entire group.

Atheists just one thing , not everything.
Some Atheists are Communists and some are democracy.
You can not mix everything in to one like trinity that make you confuse than understanding it.
If you need to understand some thing, so observe and classify them thoroughtly.

I am not a communist. I do not support restrictions on free speech in any way whatsoever. Governmental tyranny is my enemy, no matter what views on religion it professes to value. I despise Pol Pol, Mao Zedong, and other mass murderers who used political agendas to silence millions.
I just lack belief in deities, because I find no compelling evidence for them.

It that the same as the shame Christian's have to their links to Hitler and the holocaust?
Except of course that the Christian link is quite real - in his book Mein Kampf Hitler claimed to be completing Christ's work.

Stalinist Russia/Maoist China had more in common with theistic thought when you think about how the figurehead was almost worshipped and never questioned.
