Crying is wonderful therapy, and it actually makes physiological changes in your body and brain (for the better). Other ways to relieve stress are: take a brisk walk in a nice, safe area; stretch in the morning very deeply (stress makes our muscles "crunch up"), drink herbal tea and not coffee or black tea; take powdered magnesium (I like Natural Calm brand) as this relaxes the muscles and the body in general (wonderful at night), take some time out for yourself each day--even 15 minutes to mediate or just enjoy a good book, go swimming (feels wonderful and really reduces stress). BTW, other workouts (weights, aerobics) are not as stress-reducing as swimming and brisk walking.

Good luck to you--stress kills, I was off work most of last year because I let the stress get to me! I'm back at work now and have to do stress relievers every day.

I think it would make your stress go higher. To relieve stress is to bring up positive goals on how to relieve your everyday problems. Like for me I go bowling to get my mind off things

It can be both. It's a great stress reliever, and there are happy tears too.
