Ladies:Why must we be judged by our looks!?

Question

Everywhere we go we are judged on our physical apperance.

Saying stuff like......He is ugly.

Why would you date him?

She looks like ________________.

You always bring out a good point. And I agree.....most ppl only care about looks. But I agreed with what u once said looks fade personality doesnt! <3

Because we receive significant information through eyesight mostly. It's not only about people... when you go shopping for food for example you also pick fruits that are eye-catching... and beautiful cars are bestsellers despite some technical imperfections...
Appearances are not in fact so deceptive as we think... Remember the story about a man who kept a magic picture of his in the closet because the portrait reflected all the terrible traits of his character and all his misdeeds... i am sure that's what happens to our faces - they are able to tell the world about us - our ways, character, beliefs and attitudes... Other people's eyes register this information and let them decide if we are compatible. ))
So don't disapprove of people who judge by appearance - most often they just rely on their intuition. I once trusted a person whose face i didn't particularly like... but she was a friend of a friend and i thought she was ok. Well... if i had trusted my eyes i would have saved a lot of trouble later ))

I can't speak for all the ladies but it's kind of hard not to. Guys are guilty of it too. I don't mean to sound superficial but I can't say that I've never judged a guy on his physical appearance.The reason is that you can't see personality in passing, we don't wear it like clothes on the outside. I don't brush people off or remain because of the person's physical appearance. As cliché as it may sound it's the person inside that counts more. Personally, looks may cause me to stop (take a glance, or whatever) but personality is what causes me to stay.

If you're talking about thin-ness and all that jazz that comes with it, it's because the world has a set standered and if you're not it, than you're nothing. It's a cruel, stupid thing to belive in because it just screws you up for life.

It is because we have such pressure that to get a guy we must be beautiful and act in such a way and do certain things. If we don't, than we are "mediocre" or "bad". It is based off oppinions of each other and judgments. It's based off narrow minds that only see out ward apperiances, and is mostly based off the male mind of "beautiful".

It is possible not to judge people by their looks. I do not judge by physical appearance. What your personality is like, goes a lot further with me. Just because somebody may look good, doesn't mean they will be a nice person.
I do not want to be judged by my looks and won't do that to someone else.

unfortunately, this is just the way of life. both guys and girls are always judged by their appearance. if someone says something to you, you need to just learn to look past it. if you listen to every person who tries to bring you down, and let them get to you, your self-esteem will become low. people don't always mean what they say either. they may say rude comments to make themselves feel better. the good thing though, everybody in the world's different. everybody has a different opinion--"one mans trash, is another mans treasure" so keep your chin up and don't worry about the haters. hope this helps:)

True, but there are some people who judge by personality, not looks. I am all about personality because if you just talk about yourself all day and pay no attention to me then that's wrong. I prefer a guy that makes me laugh.
Plus some girls are just cruel and only think of themselves.

Every single person is judged by their looks these days. Its not fair, but thats life. But at least everyone sees you in a different way, so some may not like how one looks, but another person may think he or she is the hottest thing.

The true and honest answer, is it all has to do with making babies. Both men and woman choose people that they find attractive, and that they think would make pretty babies. This is why people often gravitate towards people that look a lot like them. Even when children are the last thing you are thinking about, deep down somewhere in your brain you are thinking about what your babies will look like with that person.

I believe it's instinctive. It's in everyone, the need to procreate. If you see someone with unattractive looks, you might think they have other things wrong with them that could potentially be passed on to your children.
