According to the movie Knocked up it can be caused by poo particles (through a fart) coming in contact with your eyes.
I don't know how much weight that carries.

Yes, pinkeye can be the result of germs in the mascara. If you have a slight infection, using the mascara over and over again just keeps the germs multiplying, until the infection is full blown.
It is best to not use that mascara now. Throw it away and replace it. And don't share mascara or any eye products with anyone. I hope your eye is better now, but if it is pink eye, it will take a week or so, and possibly a doctor's visit.

OK . . . good that you pay attention to those details. . . just for clarification . . . pink eye will cause the actual eyelids and lower lids to be swollen, red, and the tear glands to ooze nasty junk from them. Something else probably happened to your eye . . some kind of forgein body irritated the eye or you scratched it during your sleep or a blood vessel burst. . . this happen to people of all ages at no certain time or reason . . looks like a big bllod blister on the eye.
ALWAYS get new mascara after any kind of eye infection . . .
NEVER share mascara . . . eye infections can damage your eyesight and result in blindness . . . .

pinkeye.. is a specific virus that someone catches usually from another person who has it already... its highly contagious... like they rubbed their eyes and touched something that you touched
but contaminated mascara containers can harbor bacteria and you can get eye infections from them... Or you could just have irritated your eyes if you didnt properly remove the makeup from prior night.. Just wash your face, and flush your eyes with eye drops and see how the day goes.. if its still red, or itchy with a discharge, then youve got an infection which needs to be treated by a doctor... goodluck!

Maybe you had an allergic reaction to the mascara. Or if you share your mascara with other people then eye infections can be transmitted. I suggest that you go to the doctor if it doesn't get better soon.

If the mascara wand came into contact with your previous pinkeye you could re-infect yourself.

Actual pink-eye can be caused by sharing mascara, but not usually by mascara itself. Your eye may be irritated from mascara though, but that isn't likely pink eye. Hope it feels better :-D.

I depends if it is your mascara. if you borrow it from someone with pick eye, then you could easily get it. If its just yours then prob not. But make sure when ur pink eye is gone dispose of that mascara, otherwise if u use again after its gone ull get it right back.
