If a friend dies you will miss out on their company for a while, until you join them, and if you die you would miss your friends until they joined you... But really, it must be so much harder for those who don't believe in it to lose somone. To them, the person is gone forever and their death means the end of them forever.

"How could you get over knowing that a loved one is suffering for eternity?"
How could you love someone whose actions made them worthy of such suffering, in the eyes of a god you supposedly love?

"Incredible! You've answered your own question."
No. Rather, I think you failed to fully comprehend my question and the details included.

"We can't even start to imagine what eternal life is like."
I would guess it would be never ending... Really, if I believed in life after death, at least in the Christian sense, I would welcome death...

"I'm terrified of the unknown. Is that so bad?"
Well I would say yes, quite.
I think you should rather fear knowing everything. What then is left to life?

I don't feel so sad except for that I will miss them and I don't fear my own death, unless it might be slow and painful, like being burnt or tortured. I don't fear being dead at all because it is only crossing through the veil that separates this life from the one after.

I think people are human. Even though they believe in Heaven, that doesn't mean that they do not miss their friend or family member now. If you really care for some one, you would miss them even if they moved to another state. We are happy for them, but at the same time we know that until we meet again in Heaven, we will not be able to be with them, get their advice, or just be able to talk to them. And I am not afraid of death. We will all die one day, whether we believe or not.

It is our natural human nature to fear death because we do not know what will come next. Even for we who believe in eternal life death gone be daunting. For those who are strong on faith they do not fear death because they are assured of what's going to happen. As for mourning others... we know if they have gone to live with God or not, but we mourn because we have have lost someone dear to us. To us death is the end of the line. We can't even start to imagine what eternal life is like.

Not really. It can be so much harder for someone who believe in heaven and hell to lose someone. What if they weren't saved? Then they will burn in hell forever. How could you get over knowing that a loved one is suffering for eternity? Just becasue you may see them in the afterlife, doesn't mean that you won't miss them terribly now.

I believe in life after death, and I'm terrified of dying. I can't help it. I know I shouldn't be, because I really do know that God will take care of me, but change is scary. I'm content with life on Earth. I'm terrified of the unknown. Is that so bad?

This is an anomaly. I never seen someone rejoice at the death of somebody they love yet they believe they have gone to a better place.
Perhaps atheists are the only honest people

Death appears to have a finality to it even when we are aware that they will enter into heaven.
For the rest of our lives we will see them no more. No more will we talk to, hug, or have meals with this person we love. We become upset more at our own loss than anything.
