A normal blood panel can't determine that NOTHING is wrong.
Sometimes there are indicators in the normal test that suggest further testing should be done, but a lot of the time what could be a problem falls into the area of being in the low or high end of normal and most doctors are just too ignorant? lazy? I don't know - to run more specific tests.
If you have an idea of what might be going on, request a specific test. Be prepared to have valid reasons why you think you should have that test run. If the doc refuses, present him or her with a paper stating that s/he refuses to run that test, have them fill in the reason why, and have him/her sign and date it. In a lot of cases they will go ahead and run the test anyway rather than risk a lawsuit later on down the line should whatever it is you suspected turn out to be the problem.

The human body is terribly complex - so much so that our understanding of what's going on inside of it is still incomplete.
For this reason, no doctor and no test or combination of tests will ever be able to give you 100% certainty that you don't have a disease. There can ALWAYS be something that isn't picked up.
The key is to do the things that a reasonable doctor thinks are appropriate and then to let the worry go. If you are unable to let the worry go then this suggests that you DO in fact have an illness... one of the various forms of anxiety. If that's the case, see the doctor for help; a variety of very effective treatments are out there!

A standard blood panel tests for White Blood, Platlets and Red Blood. Most likely gluclose as well.
If all of these come back normal, you are in good shape. As far as most internal illness goes.
Is a blood panel/physical going to catch nuerological diseases?, no. Could you or I or anyone get a hemmorage of our brain and die in twenty minutes? Yes. But you can not live life thinking that, and no test out there (despite what they try to sell you at the Hospital) is going to detect everything.
And a note to shunnamana, we never said we did.

a regular bloodtest does not reveal everything about the body. a routine test is usually done eg. for an annual exam for screening purposes but not all diseases are screened/accounted for. specialized exams are done when the situation/condition of the patient calls for it. when we speak of healthy, it means a lot of things, physical, emotional, mental. that is the reason your md examines you so that clinically your md will have an idea what you may have and what other tests you may need. if your regular bld test was normal then you are basically alright granting you have no clinical complaints.

if you are feeling good and have no symptoms, the take it for what it is. if you are out to get every test for every disease possible, i hope you have lots of money cause those things are expensive and no insurance company will pay for tests you don't NEED.
if you have symptoms of something, you need to discuss what could be going on and why the answer wouldn't show on the blood test

There is a very, very small chance that you have something that the blood test could not pick up, but if you are not having any symptoms or pain, then you should not be concerned at all.

it means that your glucose, cholesterol, white blood cells (which shows if you have an infection if its high, so if you doctor said its normal it means no infection) and all the other important vitals are at a normal range and that you probably shouldn't be worrying. If you think you have a disease then you should ask your doctor to check you again...

listen to the dr. unless you have no doubt in your mind that you should have been infected with something... odds are the test is correct. you might think about being retested in a month or two depending on why youre being tested.

there is a very, very small chance. blood tests are usually very accurate, but if you are feeling wary, go in for a second one and set your mind at ease.
