Religious nonsense that is. Can't get enough of it? Does it entertain you? Is it more maddening or amusing? Is there a thought in your head that you may possibly be able to rationalize with the irrational? (The irony!)

I personally have hit a brick wall. I used to browse these boards and others alike solely in pursuit of good philosophical conversation. It took me a while but I've finally concluded that such conversations are far and few in between especially on these boards.

Tell me if this looks familiar-

Christian- God is great, he loves you, this book told me so. So if you're really good and if you say sorry for being the horrible person we all know you are, god will let you worship him for all eternity. (don't forget to pay your 10%)

Atheist/agnostic- I'm smart for figuring out that bull5hit is bull5hit (pats self on back.)

3rd party- You're both going to hell unless of course you read this book and follow the directions carefully. Praise (insert deity here).

You forgot the 4th party - and they say - BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's dang funny!

Does it entertain me? Most of the time, yep.

Is it maddening? Sometimes.

When it starts to get to me offline, then it's time to take a break.

Take a break, come back when you feel you're up to it again. We'll miss you, but I for one, fully understand.

I'm a Christian, but even I get sick of the typical "Christianese" answers.
I don't ever feel the need to defend my beliefs or defend God. The truth will be known when we die/this world comes to an end. People will believe what they want to believe and i've accepted that. If someone is in need of help, I don't care what religion they are, i'm going to help them. I wasnt put on this earth to judge others... and contrary to what most christian teachings say with biblical back up... I dont believe my only job is to convert. It's not something you can force or bribe or scare someone into. With as many preachers that are on tv demanding money or bribing people and trying to scare them into heaven... no wonder why people run in the opposite direction.

As for the others... I do get tired of hearing about this and that... but to each his own opinion. We won't get respect unless we give it... and even then its still not guranteed...so might as well do away with caring what others think about you.

Sounds to me you had your mind made up long ago.
A relationship with God does not depend on a book. It is a good guideline but without a willingness to live right by others and be willing to self examine you are missing out.

I get plenty of it, and yes it entertains me. It's mostly amusing, but sometime seriously freakish. It's like a train wreck that you just can't stop staring at. But I don't actually fit into any one of your three groups...

I empathize with the viewpoint you present.

I used to be an atheist, but based on rational discussion followed by searching through the evidence, I became a Christian Theist.

Cordially,

I agree. Wading through the simpletons on both sides to find good Q & A's is exhausting. But when I find them, I still enjoy the experience.

That's pretty much it.

Atheists ARE smart for figuring out that bull5hit is bull5hit.

No, I am never sick of it. I am loving to talk about my Lord and giving reasons for my hope. I love His Word, and I wish everyone would have this wonderful personal relationship with God.
