I have been amazed why that occurs myself. I have studied the Bible my entire life, a long life at that, and the Mormon faith comes closest to what the Bible teaches than any other religion. The plain and precious truths of the Bible are made manifest in the Mormon faith, whereas many of the other religions do not understand or misinterpret the Bible. The easiest misinterpretation is the whole Trinity concept. Nowhere, and I do mean nowhere is that concept even mentioned in the Bible,.
Whereas, the notion of God, Christ and the Holy Ghost being three separate personages is mentioned REPEATEDLY. in the Bible.
It is "crazy" that mainstream Christianity is so duped.
And a word about the Satan brother of Jesus thing. That is mentioned in the Old Testament repeatedly as well. Here is a hint. Read Isaiah.

Obviously most of your answerer's know as much about the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as they do witchcraft! Which is to say damn little or nothing.
Why would "God" say there could be no more prophets since the bible was written in a world that was limited to a very small area of the world? Perhaps it was just another attempt at keeping control. Like not researching any other religions because if you do you will go to hell. Does not make sense.
But to answer your question it is a lack of valid information and also the lack of the desire to really find out.
BTW I am not LDS (Mormon), I am a witch! And I can guarantee that I know more about most religions than many of you even know exists! But I cannot fault Christians in general, you only know what you have been told and you might be condemning yourself if you look into other beliefs. Fear rules!

Well, let's see...the whole "Jesus and Satan are twins" idea...
The idea that Satan offered to save all of humankind as long as *he* got to be worshiped, before Jesus humbly offered to save us for *God's* glory...
The idea that you should have as many kids as possible in your life so that you can populate your own planet after you die????
The idea that you can somehow be baptised by proxy for a dead person, whether or not that person would have ever wanted to, let alone agreed to, be baptised Mormon, and no matter how long they've actually been dead and buried...
The idea that you and your spouse and family will be a family in Eternity...my question here is, do you stay with your parents, or your husband/wife? Little lack of forethought here....
And the whole idea that some Latin American angel bopped into a little boy's bedroom in upper NY state and gave him a gold book! What, the spiritual Yellow Pages?
Then there's the mention of "horses" in the New World in the book of mormon, which supposedly dates back to Aztec/Inca days, **when horses were first introduced into the Americas by the Spaniards IN THE 16TH CENTURY.** Before that, there were NO HORSES in the New World.
A few little aberrations like that.

Because other make up things about us, then teach it to others as truth.
Here's the truth, in response to the others who came to bash:
Sleeping around is adultery, no man can beat his wife, no one lost any tablets (plates), Jesus did not have any wives before crucifixion, the Book of Mormon is another testament of the same gospel recorded in the New Testament, anyone can enter our churches, and the Trinity is a concept that wasn't taught until 400 years after Christ's ascension.
People say the weirdest things about us. If any of it was true, then yeah, that would be pretty messed up.

Do you know the story of how mormonism came about? You might want to look it up. Joseph Smith supposedly had an angel appear to him, and in order to get the book of mormon, he had to look into a hat with a special lense, that only he could see.
Also, "regular" people are not allowed in mormon churches. When the big "temple" was built in Utah, they let the public in, then recarpeted, and re painted to cleanse it.
I do think they have the right idea, well more or less, when it comes to family. But thats about it. I also don't think they are the craziest. Scientology is pretty out there as well.

because mormons believe in jesus, yet they also believe ANYONE INITIATED WITH KNOWLEDGE can become a God too and rule over another planet. (Note: God like powers equal to Jesus Christ).
they also deny the trinity, so they aren't really Christians. Thus, they claim to be christians, but are rejected by most Christians, so others don't know what to say about these folks.
note
~about polygamy:
In terms of other religions, Buddhists might say they are crazy for not holding a standard of truth to their daily living. for example, polygamy was outlawed ONLY because their high council said so. It does not express an inward theology to justify their claims, (as some self-regulating religions like Catholics do).

because mormnism started in the united states and have another book called the book of mormons which the founder claims to have found the book wriiten on a golden scroll. He claims that God showed him a vision to look for this book and he dug it and found it. And this book claims that Jesus Christ came to america and preached the gospel. And Mormons used to accept polygamy but then it was banned because it brought problems to the church.

Christ once taught;
18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.
(New Testament | John 15:18 - 19)
