I think all the other answers cover pretty much everything, if all else fails check the switch on the 360 HD cable, the end that connects to the 360 has a switch for either "TV or HDTV" It seems pretty simple and obvious but alot of people miss it...............i did

Some games are only made for 480p. Some are for 720p. Some for 1080p. Not all the Xbox 360 games are full hd compatable. You would need component cables which you can buy at just about any electronic store which allows your 360 to play in hd. Check all your connections and read the manuals if that doesn't work. It should tell you how.

You need to go into the control panel for the xBox and change the settings to output 720 or 1080.

This will make games output with higher resolution video. ("Mass Effect" looks fantastic by the way).

But standard Def DVD's wont up-convert or look HD.

"HD Cable" means nothing.
Even if you use component (R/G/B) (which is an "HD cable") you can't play DVDs at higher resolution than 480p (idiotic DVD copy protection).
However HD from a set-top box should work just fine.
To see HD you need the whole pipe to be HD: HD source, component or HDMI cable , HD TV.

Keep in mind that it doesn't matter how you hook up your xbox to the receiver, if your receiver is not hooked up in 'HD' to the projector.
