I don't understand why people can't just agree to disagree...I'm sick of athiest calling everyone with faith a retard, and i'm sick of christians attacking athiests and telling them their on the way to hell like it will solve anything. What's funny is, i've seen a ton of religious, bashing questions on here and the only one to get deleted was one from a violent muslim...but that's not really my point...Unless your just doing it to piss people off...which I understand...All the religion/nonreligion bashing is pointless!!!!

I agree. But I don't see much bashing or name calling. Snide remarks sure, I'm guilty of that.
It's just people voicing their positions, which is great, and a very cool thing about Yahoo Answers.

One problem, and this is merely my observation, is dogma. Believers cannot get along with non-believers, in debate over religion, because the very teachings of their belief forbid it. Non-believers on the other hand are open to learning from all people and have no prejudgment. Atheists calling theists stupid is itself stupid. While I (an atheist) claim they are wrong, I understand where theists are coming from. Smart people are very good at rationalizing things for bad reasons or without truth or complete information.

Because they both have unproven dogmas, and they love to fight over these things. Christians can't empirically prove the existence of God, and Athiests can't empirically prove non-existence. Words from so-called prophets aren't enough for proof, nor is absence by Athiests. For the Athiests: if you've never seen a lobster, nor ever will, does that mean lobsters don't exist? For the Theists: can you actually prove any prophecies or scripture as the word of God?

i'd be way off base right here yet i am going to go ahead and take a huge bounce and say that Christians are far extra tolerant of Atheists than Atheist are of Christians. i do not stay contained in the deep south the position issues get violent, my reports were mostly in a social realm. Christians basically opt for to inform you their tale and atheists have already heard it. you note countless "appreciate my beliefs" and "do exactly not push your beliefs on me". i am going to understand why human beings would say that, yet actually it isn't that way with me. You pushing your beliefs on me does no longer harm me. it truly is somewhat a waste of time, even if it would not surely harm me. i do not appreciate your beliefs. i locate your beliefs very stupid. i locate your beliefs to the point of absurdity that it truly isn't any longer purely comical yet to boot puzzling for me to surely trust that you truly carry those concepts on your head. With that being stated I surely haven't any mission respecting you as a man or woman as long as you're a large individual. i don't think of beliefs play right into a persons'' respectability, i imagine respectability is purely depending on the moves of that individual. even if those persons moves (objectionable or no longer) are in accordance with their beliefs variations from human being to human being. I surely have had many acquaintances that are Christian and we've gotten alongside high quality. to be able to respond to your question extra precisely, a large quantity (and that i'd not hesitate to assert the overall public) of people already do get alongside with those who do not percentage their beliefs (or lack thereof.) yet it truly is one opinion between many.

If Muslims tried to adverise their "so-called" beliefs , educated people would make them look bad by resonding with the truth . If the Muslims tried to shout their true beliefs in an open forum , people would run from them like the plague .

Christianity is responsible for some of the worst, most anti-democratic policy in the US. For example, the teaching of Intelligent Design in public schools. I wish we could "get along," but the fact is, Christianity effects non-Christians -- often in a negative way.

I've never tried to "save" anyone. I do not preach or evangelize. I try to treat others as I want to be treated.

I agree with you. The bashing is pointless.

You're right Matthew...Telling someone who doesn't believe in hell that they're going there is pointless...The atheists only want to p_ss Christians off....If one doesn't believe in religion or spirituality, why do they spend all there time in the religion and spirituality section? how could inductive reasoning not conclude that their intentions are malicious..

Because we all don't live on Big Rock Candy Mountain and life is niether an episode of the Smurfs nor a bed of roses.
Im sorry but I kinda get tired of the question. Why...why does everyone have to get along? Most of what you see here is silly banter...it goes both ways and folks need to quit taking it so seriously.

We'll probably never officially get along, it's too great a dichotomy- which is sad indeed, because we have alot to learn from each other, even if we don't agree.
