Wow where did you get the idea Nissan and Ford was still talking? Like a bad marriage, no the Titan is a totally different truck. Back in the 1990's Mercury Villager and Nissan Quest were built here in the USA. That involvement with Ford was to get a Mini Van to market quickly. Nissan's V-22 van was Horrible! And after several bad years. All that lead up to Nissan Renault Buy out. Don't you worry Nissan Trucks are as American as they come. And There is no longer any Ford in them. Nissan Just studied the best selling truck in America wouldn't you?

Allot of car company's are using other company's parts, engineering, and other stuff.
Take a look at the old dodge D50. Mitsubishi had a small truck exactly like it.
The same goes for Chevy's S-10 and Isuzu's small pick-up. They are the same truck with different trim parts.
Ford did the same with the Exploder and Escape. Just look at the Ranger and Mazda's B-Series trucks. They are the same truck.

Anyway, there could also be another possibility.
Most car company's don't really manufacture all their parts. The tires, batteries, computer parts, and even parts like alternators are made by other company's that make these parts to the specifications that the car companies provide.

Does anyone remember the AMC Pacer, Javelin, or Eagle?
I use to own an AMC Eagle. It had a International engine, a Ford starting system, a Dodge alternator, and there were many parts I could spot from most of the other major car companies.
It was really a Frankenstein car.

Nissan and Ford built vans on the same platform...the Merc Villager was built in Ohio at a Ford plant but used Nissan engines/transmissions.

Nissan engineered the van & Ford produced it at the Ohio plant. It was a colaboration between the 2 companies.
