telling other people my personal business... talking about me behind my back... calling me obscene names behind my back... and so forth... someone please tell me why friends have to such a thing...

Friends are not supposed to do stab you in the back. This person should be downgraded to acquaintance status.
I know it will be hard, especially if you have other friends in common, but limit your contact with this person and do not divulge too much personal information to him or her.
Friends treat each other with respect and keep confidences confidential. They do not gossip or slander their friends.
Finding out who your true friends are is a tough part of growing up, but we all go through it.

No. A true friend stabs you in the front.
There's always going to be rough times in every relationship-and that goes for friendships too. However, in a mature and healthy relationship you confront a person directly and deal with your issues out in the open and then move on.
I would talk to your friend directly and if they won't work it out honestly and up front then it's probably time to move on.

This happens to EVERYONE in life. Yeah its f***ed up but it is what it is.
The sooner you realise people are not to be trusted (unless its family) the better off you will be.
when it comes to friendships you consider them all mates rather than friends.
and the most importan thing is dont EVER stay quiet about things you may notice. If theyv done summat then let them know and let them know loud n clear.
This is hard for a lot of decent ppl to do as they dont wanna lose the friendship, but believe me mate.............
You will be better off in the long run.

''Real'' friends dont do any of these things to friends. Maybe you should get rid of these friends and get new ones. Ive let a few go because of stupid things like this and to tell you the truth Im alot better off..Thank God!!

Friends are called friends because they DONT do that stuff.
The term your looking for is back-stabber, two-faced, or fake.
Im sorry those things have happened to you, but for the rest of your life there is going to be someone like that. It happens to all of us.
What matters is how you deal with it.

my best friend recently got a bitching from me when she straight up was being all best buds with this girl that talked mad crazy crap about me and we all know about it right in front of me....she talks bad about her with me in private like best friends do but was being a total hypocrite that night...i called her out on it and she deserved it....the thing is no matter how good the friend is, people always think of themselves first....its better to be the bigger person and just KNOW that karma WILL take its toll....dont stress just learn from it

Think about it this way:
You want to have friends, correct?
Think about them. They need friends, too.
And If thats their way of getting friends, so be it. Now, your parents may say "oh! well, their not your true friends!"
Can you say you have never done this? In your life? If you say no, I say you are lying. Friends kill friends to make more powerful friends. Thats life... :)
