I'm attempting to send a letter to an attorney whom I have never met. He was involved in a now-settled case involving a close family friend and I'd just like to send him a note (not hate mail or anything).

How can I go about locating his mailing address? I'm assuming that I'd just need to send it to his office, I know he works for the government and lives/works in Chicago, but is there some sort of a business directory I can consult to find the exact address?

go to this website: http://www.iardc.org/lawyersearch.asp
by entering his name, you can obtain his business address and telephone number.

Don't bother contacting the Illinois Bar Association or going to its website. Bar associations are fraternal organizations and membership is voluntary. Bar associations don't have information about all the attorneys in the state, only about those attorneys who are members. Furthermore, they don't give out information about their members.

Contact the Illinois Bar Association. If he's still licensed, they can help find him.
