I had considerabel dry skin too...I switched to Purity made simple face wash by Philosophy ...its a very mild face wash...you face comes out clean and it doent dry it out...then I use olay thirst quech moisturier...I noticed that rather than dabbing a whole lot amount...I gently massage it in n it all absorbs quickly....the effects are thus much better...

Good Luck

First of all, I think foaming cleansers dry skin, so I would go to sephora and invest in a better face wash. clarins and la mer have amazing cleansers and creams. look for something the is extra creamy and is soap free. bath and body works may have something good for you too. There are also extra intensive moisturizers that are recommended for use only once a week, but if your skin is that dry, i guess you could use it 2 or 3 times a week. you should proabaly wash your face only once a day because twice a day can add to the dryness of your skin. you can also find a super rich cream for extra dry skin. all of this together should solve your problem, but if that still doesn't work mash up some avocados and apply it to your face. the oils in avocado are very good for your skin, so that should work fairly well! good luck. :)

Something to try is a cool mist vaporizer in your room at night. It will help relieve all kinds of skin dryness.

Try switching to Aveeno for dry skin. It is better than Neutragena & is more emollient. Use cream cleansers & a cream moisturizer because creams are heavier than lotions. If you want to use up your Neutragena before getting new stuff, use olive oil (yep, from the kitchen) to help relieve the dryness. Put it on after you have cleansed, put on your moisturizer & then put olive oil over it to lock it in. Do this at night because other wise you will be a little slick. Also use a cream foundation or base- no minerals or anything that doesn't go on creamy. Minerals suck the moisture from your skin.

Este Lauder has a few outstanding cream moisturizers for very dry skin... I have sensative, combination skin (some parts extremly dry) that is also acne prone. Both the Este Lauder and Clinique lines work wonderfully for me. It's definately more expensive, but it will last a lot longer and you'll notice a big difference immediately.

I have super dry skin, too. I live in an area where it is really dry, especially in the winter and I have problems with keeping my skin moist. I don't know if you like those scented lotions and body creams, but going to Bath and Body Works and getting their body CREAM not LOTION can really do the trick for dry skin. The body cream is the only thing that can keep all of the skin on my hands from getting chapped and blistering.

Go to CVS/WalMart/KMart, and buy some aquaphor ointment. Apply to dry areas after washing, and before moisturizing, in evening.
If this doesn't help within a few days, see a doctor or get a referral to a dermatologist. You could have eczema or dermatitis.
Take good vitamins with minerals every day, and drink about 1/2 gallon of water a day.

Your skin normally create oil to prevent the skin from drying.

Try using an intense moisturizer, it will sting but later it won't hurt and your skin will begin to heal. The best thing to do is see your doctor, they will give you a pescription moisturizer.

This happened to my hands once, I think it was called surgeons hand. Since they need to wash their hands a lot, they wash away the oils. My hands are okay now, I use soap with moisturizers.

On the bottle, it says if your skin dries stop use.

I just used this product that is amazing! it's called "Yes to Carrots: C today or C you in the morning." It's for dry to sensitive skin. It's all natural and feels great on your skin. I wish I had known about it sooner! You can find it at most Walgreens.

Also make sure that you're not overwashing your face. That could lead to dryness too. When you are washing your face, make sure that you're not using hot water. The hotter it is, the drier your face will be.

Dry skin problems respond well to self-care measures, such as using moisturizers and avoiding long, hot showers and baths. If you have very dry and scaly skin, your doctor may recommend you use an all-natural cream that contains natural oils that gives soothing and glowing results.

In a more serious skin disease, such as ichthyosis or psoriasis, your doctor may prescribe prescription creams and ointments or other treatments in addition to home care.

Dry skin leads to dermatitis, which causes red, itchy skin. In these cases, treatment may include lotions with natural-oil ingredients. If your skin cracks open, your doctor may prescribe wet dressings with mildly astringent properties to contract your skin and reduce secretions and prevent infection.

Hi there. When I was young, I had a skin disease known as exima which is basically very dry and irritating skin. Luckily, My dad was a doctor and rubbed Eucerin lotion on me. To this day, I continue to use Eucerin for my dry skin and it helps every time! I never get outbreaks of redness and rashes on my skin anymore. The lotion is really thick and makes your skin oily and really prevents dry skin. Hope that helped :)
