We just got a 4 month old Boston Terrier pup, and we noticed that her ears were a little red, she also had a few small red dots on her tummy. We took her to her vet check appt. and the vet confirmed that the ears have a bacteria/yeast infection in them and we were perscribed an ointment for them. Also an antibiotic to take orally. Her belly is breaking out a lot worse and the vet is closed until Friday. She is bitiing her legs and feet and scratching her belly like mad. She is so red on her poor little tummy and arm pits and her eyes are red where the whites are. =( Any ideas on what it is? Is the antibiotics going to treat the rash as well as the ears? I wasn't sure if that was going to work since she only had a couple of spots and the vet perscribed them to help her ears. Any tips to get her through until Friday? Thanks!

It may be a flea allergy or something with the infection. If it's yeast (Malessezia), look for a shampoo with miconazole or ketoconazole in it. These are antifungal agents. Unfortunately I don't know if these are only in prescription form, but if you look on the ingredients list you may be able to find one at a pet supply store. If nothing else, look for a medicated shampoo with something like hydrocortisone. This can at least help reduce the redness and itching to make her comfortable until she makes it into the vet. How long has she been on the antibiotic? It might be a reaction to that. I wouldn't put the antibiotics for the ears on the rest of the dog because it may make the problem worse. Best bet is a medicated shampoo.

best thing to do now is to make her/him stop by maybe watching her and make her stop kind of like a habit'cause she/he could get a serious infection and she could be badly hurt/damage.....

AND I KNOW YOU DON"T WANT THAT... If possible have a family member stay up for a couple hours each person watching her........ that would work, but make sure you chose someone who you know who will be resposible enough.... DO NOT YOUR SELF STAY UP ALL NIGHT WATCHING HER TAKE TURNS WITH YOUR HUSBAND ,BF or a dependable person..... Do not chose kids unless you have no choice or know they are resposible enough to watch ur doggy .......

YOU could also take her to another vet, check her blood lines, or talk to her mom and dad 's owners about the little pup's family tree...

HOPE SHE GETS BETTER I PERSONALLY AM A DOGLOVER!!!!

Put a 100% cotten t-shirt on her, and get her into the on Friday morning for sure to have this looked at.

If she develops further symptoms you may want to bring to an ER vet before Friday.

Find some childrens benadryl and give her a small dose Less than that for a baby. That should help with her itching. I use it on my dogs all the time. Has she been anywhere where she could have come in contact with poisin ivy. If so you might try giving her a bath with a mild soap.
