Actually there is no problem with what you are doing if you apply your ointment very very thinly. Be sure your bandages are the Telfa type (non-stick) and loose. When you get home wash them gently and reapply your ointment if this is what your artist told you to do. Color shedding is normal.

We all have different opinions on aftercare and in the end, you should listen to your own artist, really.

It's not the polysporing that's bleeding out your tats. It's the fact that you have them smothered all day under bandages. You're not supposed to cover them except for the first couple hours of getting them and that's only till the bleeding stops.

The first 5 days it's recommended to use Triple Antibiotic ointment regularly, but don't Goop it on. It can bleed out. After the 1st 5 days of ointment, use regular lotion, alcohol/fragrance free.

Also, once in a while, shave over the tattoo to regenerate new cell growth. It almost seems to brighten the tat.

It doesn't fade tattoos. The only thing that will fade your tattoos is consistent sun.

I've been told NEVER to use anything petroleum based, as it can pull out the color.

Yes, of course! And if you brush your teeth with it, you will not ask DUMB questions! Good luck!
