People keep talking about music, pictures, and video... You can also transfer game data to the PS3 as well (can you say cheater?).

The SD Memory Cards and other flash card slots can be used if you have a digital camera and you want to transfer your pictures/videos onto the PS3. I don't have a digital camera, but I use the SD Memory card all the time to transfer pictures and other stuff onto my PS3 by saving them on a computer first.

But, you can also use the USB ports to transfer video, pictures, and music onto the 40GB PS3's hard drive also.

The 40GB PS3 doesn't have the digital camera flash card slots, the 60GB and 80GB PS3 only have the flash card slots. If you don't really care about backward compatibility and putting media on your PS3, then get the PS3 without a doubt.

It's to show pictures to friends and family on the TV right from your Digital Camera memory stick. If you want PS3 just for gaming than get the 40GB model.

For video, photo, music, saves, backups and other transfers. Also used for updates (if you prefer to download them via PC).
