does certain medicine show up as positive for drugs? I take Flomax/Uroxatrol for my prostate. Didn't mention it on the application. Now worried it will show up in either urine or blood test they took.

Anyone with knowledge on this I'd appreciate a comment

Thanks

Any medication, especially taken on a daily basis, will show up in your blood system. They are looking for any type of illegal drugs in your system. If they mention that they found something in your system then they will ask you to bring in any prescriptions you are currently taken. They may also ask for a letter from the doctor stating that you are under their care and taking this medication. If you really want to clear the air though and get to them before they question you, then call the HR department there and explain to them exactly what you explained here. They should understand completely and you will be fine. It's important to be honest right from the start, if they feel you are hiding something from them, even if you didn't intend to, they will get a bad taste in their mouths about you and not hire you. Good luck and happy holidays.

Drug screens typically screen only for illegal drugs, alcohol, opiates (e.g. Vicodin and morphine), benzodiazepines (e.g. Ativan and Klonopin), and barbituates (e.g. Seconal). This is because these are usually the only drugs that employers care about.... because they're addicting and can affect judgment and reaction time.

There's no reason for your employer to care about you being on Flomax or Uroxatral so they won't bother testing for them.

Are you interviewing for a flying job, Flyboy? If so, they might be interested in more details about your health history than the average employer but as far as I know, prostate conditions, Flomax, and Uroxatral aren't considered contraindications for flying.

employment drug tests are usually specific for marijuana and coke/heroin. also, opiates such as pain pills (narcotics) may be included. but if you have the prescription bottle where it shows that you were given the medications by the physician. there is nothing to worry about. flomax will not show unless specifically requested which would be a stupid test for employment. marijuana stays in your system for about 30 days and opiates, heroin, coke will last about 5 days. Good luck on the interview.

They will be looking for drugs.....It ranges from illegal drugs to narcotics.........If you take a specific medicine and it does show up on a drug test all you have to do is take them the prescription bottle and then it is all fine.......

I do not think the medications you are currently taking will have any effect on your drug test......

Good Luck
