We, as Christians, are saved by the things the disciples of the early church taught about who He is and what is expected of us. Jesus lived and died and taught Jews to be better Jews. Jesus never personally saw a person on this earth that was a Christian because His church was not established, from which Christians came, until His blood was shed and He rose again from the dead. The teachings of the church or kingdom was left for the disciples to teach after Jesus used His blood on the cross to pay for the sins. Without the blood we could not be saved. Without who He is, we could not be saved. Without doing what the disciples taught, we could not be saved. Jesus saves, that is true. But Jesus only saves those who are His by obedience to His church/kingdom/body and entrance into it according to directions given. Apart from the kingdom, there is no salvation and no spiritual blessings (salvation).
EDIT: No, both are not the option. We have to be added into the formula also. No person is saved against their desires.

Because of what he did. He died as atonement for our sins. He did this willingly in obedience to His Father. Since he was sinless, he was the only person who could do this for us. All who believe this and trust Jesus as savior are saved.

It is both though in order for jesus to be our saviour he has to be both. If Jesus wasn't who he said he was than he wouldn't have the power to save us the alblity but if he didn't do it we wouldn't be saved because he didn't sacrifice witch is how he saved us

Both. Because He was sinless, He was the perfect sacrifice therefore He is able to save completely those who come to Him.

WE are saved by believing who He is and WHAT He has done--That GOD THE SON, became flesh and DIED and ROSE AGAIN. you cannot be saved without believing that He is GOD THE SON and that He died and rose again.
