Start working story problems on the current topic in your head. You are bored, right? So you get what they are saying, right? Work it through a few times while the try to get the rest of class up to speed with the details and repetition. You could also write some stories - but the teacher will catch you on that and putting your head down leads to sleep and if they call your name and you pick up your head and still have the right answer ready - they hate that. So just play some more scenarios out in your head using the calculation at hand - they cannot fault you for running some mental wind-sprints in the margins of your paper, eh?

You may not be willing to pay the price. To improve attention and performance in one class you will have to delete one half of all your other interests. Totally focusing will do it ...nothing less will make a change. Calculus can be enhanced by related studies like structural engineering, statics courses, especially graphing loads and stresses.

I do well if I play games with myself to trick myself into doing things. In works in more areas than just school. Bribing yourself works good too.
So class is 90 minutes... So wow.. that IS a long time... try writing with different color pens, or just different pens and pencils (if not colors), try writing in different notebooks or on different paper. Look at NO clocks during class. If you can't help but see a clock, try sectioning off the class into 3rds and reward yourself for every section completed with candy or gum or something like that. (sugarfree of course if it becomse a habit) I dunno... that's about all I got right now. I'll think on it some more. Maybe I can come up with something else. Good luck!!!

I have the same freakin problem!! I always make sure to get the good teachers that are kinds young, and fun... cause the old boring ones put me to sleep. But if you cant get a good teacher, i sumtimes have to ask the teacher to put me in the front and away from the door, cause i stare out it to watch for sumone to walk by. haha and if alot of my friends are in there i have to sit where i cant see them or i will talk from across the room... so u need to juss buckle down, keep your eyes open, and pretend to have fun!!! =) hope that helps you

Bring a water bottle- take a few sips every 5-10 minutes..
you dont have to do this constantly or precisely.. it just helps me wake up/not think about the time so much.
Either that, or have 4 pieces of chocolate.

entertain urself wiht the subject & reward urslef if u pay attention.
so now i kno i will sound like a geek, lol, but oh well. so ui nscience this happened to me to. then i realized my grade & that the exams were tomorrow. so i payed attention, i just had to listen harder & pay attentino more. i also tried to understand the subjet. get a small tutor, so they can help u. once u understand, u will b more likely to pay attention. remind urslef of other stuf in that subject, like when going in to a chapter about proofs (idk wats in calculs srry) saw oh yea thats y this happens, it actually makes sense. & think in amazement how interesting it is.
also, reward urself, like a parnet would to a kid, lol. umm, tell urself that if u pay attention, u will eat ice cream 2nite, if u dont u wont. (or watever thing u reali like) so whenever u get off track , remind urself of that & hopefully u will gt better. good luck!

When I really want to get focused ,I repeat what the person is saying , word for word... I make it like a game .I found out that it really helps my listening skills all around....I focus more on family and friends better and I actually hear more deeply of what is being said.

Same thing happened to me. Just think about yourself in the teacher's spot and you might come to think that you would try teaching it in the same way. Try to find aspects in them that you like and enjoy the class. Try taking notes, that always occupies time and will help you when the test comes around

hardly. i'm many times staring out the window, questioning of a million issues I plan or might desire to try this day. I purely pay interest whilst i are not getting something, or that's important!
