When I was little, I would go to the church with my mom. When I was around 8, I stopped going to the church, and I wouldn't even care about it. I am now 18, and I jave thought about giving up my religion before, because I thought it was stupid. Lately, I've started praying, and believing in it again. Is that weird...?

No. As created beings, all of have a natural inclination toward God, the Creator, Who continually calls us to Him.

But God is also supreme mystery. He can't be understood, but can be encountered through Scripture, prayer, and the Sacraments.

As a child, you would not have the capacity to appreciate, much less begin to think about God, except in very childish ways. As an 18 year old, you have outgrown your childishness and are more sensitive to the Holy Spirit.

You can now better respond to the Holy Spirit and reflect on the Mystery of God in a more mature way. The Church offers you the Sacraments and 2000 years of teaching.

Study your faith, stay with it, keep praying. The Holy Spirit will speak to you throughout your life and in different ways.

You were not born catholic! No child is born of any religion!

You were born human, inocent and then were indoctrinated into the catholic religion.

When you were little you were as gullible as any child, hence your willingness to go to church and listen to the seemingly infalliable priest harp on about what they deem important to their congregation.

You are now at the age where your hormones are basically taking controll, you are now more open to things and less cynical.

Religion and spirituality is a personal quest. No one can tell you what to do, how to do it or under which dogma.

Keep in mind that as you begin this journey, that it is solo, there is no one or nothing that is looking over your shoulder, giving you hints and throwing challenges at you. It is all you.

Once you finally come to that realisation, you can renounce catholosism and become an atheist.

You are not weird. Prayer is self reflection and a search for understanding... a search for answers. Prayer is good. I do it all the time. I to am Catholic. It is never to late to start going back to church even if it is not on a regular basis.

Lately, I find myself actually taking notes and researching the sermon. I find it fulfilling.

II was baptized/raised Catholic and I left it years ago. I'm glad that I did and have no desire to go back to it at all. It's not weird to pray, but one can be spiritual and pray without belonging to any religion.

It is weird to think one can run their own spiritual life by the age of eight. It is not the least bit strange to see people who have made said mistake eventually find their way back to the Faith.

No, it's not weird. You are growing up, that's all. And as you grow up, you'll form your own ideas or beliefs in life. You'll stick to principles and values which will work for you. You're not doing wrongly, as long as you are not hurting a soul physically and emotionally.

No- it's not weird. That same thing happens to lots of people.

The question to explore would be, "why now?" If you explore that, you might begin to understand yourself better and why you have started praying and believing.

God bless you on your spiritual journey!

Nope. If it is for you, you will return, if not, follow your heart and beliefs to the place that most fits your spiritual needs.

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ , unto another gospel
which is not another , but there are some that trouble you and would pervert the gospel of Christ
But though we , or an angel from Heaven preach any other gospel , let him be accursed
